Thank You and Goodbye

My GT will, sadly, be going next week. The car started to look a little worse for wear after I split up with my Wife last Year and moved into an apartment where it was almost impossible to clean the car properly. They have also started plummeting in value so I figured now was the best time to move on and went for the best deal offered.

I have only posted once or twice on here over the last Year or so, but I just wanted to say a massive thank you to all the people I have met on the forum or in person at meets and events and say what a pleasure it was being part of such a great community.

What is replacing the GT? Well (and I know I will be frowned upon for this), it's not another Alfa. I would have loved to have got a 159 but finding one with the right spec at the right price (and within 150 miles!) was proving impossible. I am also at breaking point when it comes to Alfa dealers a couple of times in the last Year where they have proved next to useless.

So, in the GT's place will be an Audi A4(B7) S-Line 2.5 V6 Tdi. It's not a new car...in fact it is the same age as the GT and is costing almost twice as much as the GT is worth ....but it is the best one I found and is pretty much fully equipped with all the extras. It's a nice drive and a lovely car....but it will never be close to the feeling of driving an Alfa.

I may come back to Alfa's again but I see the Audi as a bit of a break whilst I wait and see if the dealer network finally gets sorted.

Anyway, thanks again to everyone for all the help over the Years.

Stick around Jason, for chats and general renditions of this and that, with regard to, well this and that! No AR with us at the Mo' so just enjoy coming on AO for the company, and so on.: Daren't tell the AO crowd what the missus has been looking at wheel wise! Have cleaned my bke, but have yet to ride it.:

Re: Thank You and Goodbye

Sorry to hear this, sounds like your decision is mainly based on the Alfa dealers

Hope you stick around though

All the best!

Jason, good luck with the car and the new life.

Hang around AO though, the departure of the GT doesn't exclude you.

Re: Thank You and Goodbye

Hello again...and thanks everyone.

The GT has now gone and the Audi is sat in its place. Its a fantastic car and is a pleasure to drive....but it is boring as hell compared to the GT. I knew that would be the case though as the Audi did not have the 'soul' that an Alfa has when I test drove it.

The A4 is proving to be a pleasant suprise though as it has some proper grunt behind it on the M-Way and is a hell of a lot more comfier cruiser. The real advantage is that extra room the kids and the missis have though.

The biggest thing that drove me away from Alfas was the dealers...had nothing but bad experiences with them over the last Year and decided enough was enough. Who knows, I may end up getting worse from Audi dealers and be back to Alfa in a Year or so .

Will keep popping in to say hello anyway.....plus I know my ex still takes her 147 to the NICN meets so will pass on my hello's through her as well
