Re: Metallica Death Magnetic

quality is a bit iffy through WMP but songs sound mighty fine! there is a distinct mix of kill/ride/puppets/justice with modern production. me thinks im gonna love this album. it may also be good enough to take pendulum's 'in silico' out of the car cd player too!

what you reckon to it then ant?

That particular song sounds like that mix you mentioned, but leans a lot towards their more recent work, which I honestly detest. It's a bit too clean. Maybe because it doesn't sound so raw and primal as their early work. But, it is a good song. Very thrashy.

Re: Metallica Death Magnetic

I just finished listening to The Day That Never Comes. MUCH better!!

Older Metallica albums had a sort of "wall of sound", a much thicker sound, I can't listen to that here. I know, thye'll probably never release a new album to rival the likes of Master and Justice, but keep in mind that those two albums are icons, topping them could prove next to impossible.

The thing is that after all I've read and heard about the new album, I felt I was being promised Master of Puppets 2, but I know I could never expect that to be a reality. Maybe I should lower MY bar.

Still, TDTNC was awesome.

Re: Metallica Death Magnetic

I think Metallica had the perfect opportunity to call it a day when Jason left.

Now I find them a bit of an embarrasment TBH.

Still love everything pre-Load though

Re: Metallica Death Magnetic

I like it but saying that I like everything they have I even like St. Anger

Their older recordings are good. I love the Justice album perfect for hammering down a back road or just cruising int he car it seems perfectly weighted and timed. Shame they hated Jason so much that they turned the bass down
