Bummer ... are you getting any sort of redundancy etc (doubt it if the company are going under) ... gutted for you (unless of course you're an estate agent ... )

We have money to keep us going for 4-5 months and mortgage protection so should be OK if I can't get a job quickly. TBH I will stack shelf's/clean toilets rather than sign on/doss.

same as me then, have you considering contract work?? more money and about the same job stability as a permanent employee ...

+1 for contract work (plus if you've got a good accountant you don't pay any personal tax ... you still have to pay company taxes though )

What sort of IT work do you do?

The MoD and HM Prison Service are well represented in that area.
