I think multiple crimes where commited here. The original theft, and the ensuing car chase which resulted in the death. As someone else said the responsible thing to do would be to take the car details and reg and call the Police.
The Pizza guy obviously failed to put things in perspective, if they had just murdered his granny then I expect this kind of reaction, but they had simply stolen a Pizza.
Of course, if kids had a little respect and didn't go around stealing things we wouldn't be having this discussion.

The reason the kebab guy did what he did is because the police are (quite rightly IMHO) perceived as too busy eating kebabs to do anything (read lazy). Then, knowing some police very well as I do, they are apathetic because they feel that they are wasting their time due to the Criminal Protection Service and the courts being ineffective. This goes all the way to Europe. Whatever, honest, decent folk are now acting to protect themselves & their property because they feel no one else will.

And he paid the price for thinking that taking the law into your own hands and metering out the punishment is a good idea...all for 14 quid.

The law states that we can use reasonable force in protecting ourselves. What the law doesnt state is just how much force is reasonable. Its a catch 22 situation that never ends well for those involved.

Vigilante behaviour is not the way decent people behave.

Exactly. I have quite radical ideas as to what the "reasonable force" equals. What's reasonable to me may not be for others.
Remember that farmer chap who went down for shooting Fred Barras? That (him going down) was disgusting IMHO

its one of the few things that the USA seems to get right. If someone breaks into your home you can defend yourself without fear of prosecution. A friend of mine hit a guy that tried to walk in through his front door a few years back. The guy was off his head on something or other and didnt stop so my mate kept hitting him as this bloke forced his way in. When the guy did finally buckle and fall my mate called the cops who took the guy to hospital for a check up and my mate to the nick charged with assault. Luckily nothing came of it and after paying the guy £300 he was a free man. The cops however said that he had done the right thing even though they had to arrest him.

How long did he get for that??
IMHO shooting him was a bit ott but then he's a farmer, the first thing you'd grab would be you're gun.

I don't think it's reasonable force when it involves putting bystanders at risk.

TBH, I would 100% agree with that but I can sympathise with the wronged party for the reasons I have stated.
People need to be aware that my view is tainted due to 14 years in the Penal system & a further 6 in and around the Criminal Justice System.

Re: if you nick food and die while running, it's ok; the UK will blame who you stole
How many here actually understand the law and how it stands on matters such as these ??
Simply the fact that the guys giving chase and acting in the manner - deserved prosecution - that is where the true facts of the case can be heard along with mitigation...and a decision and sentance givien.
Whether we like them or think they are affective or not - the police are the body that should act on matters such as these....
We can't have a world turning to anachy just because people want to take the law into their own hands...
If you do choose that route then face the punishment knowing you did something wrong and move on....

Oh I understand and I can sympathise too. If some jumped up little arse stole a pair of socks from under my nose let alone a Pizza I'd be opening up a whole world of reasonable force on them.
