It is indeed a sad reflection on today's hedonistic and selfish society.

Re: `Is this SAD or, is this SAD?`
I hate statistics ... 1 in 3 hey???, ... a statistical measure for 1000 cannot with any accuracy be factored up to the millions of children in the UK, that's without taking into account the demographic of the poll...
really the head line should be 333 children in burnley have no respect for there parents

Hi,156 Chris
Do not blame the message carrier.
After all it was
the B.B.C.
Or should they have stated.
two thirds of the youth
in Burnley
have some Respect
for their parents.?
John.

Re: `Is this SAD or, is this SAD?`
It's the nub of the whole problem really, isn't it?
The kids are probably right to have no respect for their parents - they probably don't deserve it.
I wonder how the kids will turn out?
And their kids?
I don't want to be pessimistic or anything, mind...

Oh no John, I didn't mean it as a pop at you ... the BBC are always doing this sort of stuff, mis-quoting statistics ... remember the big commotion about the pill doubling the chance of breast cancer (or something like that) I think it was from 0.000001% to 0.0000002%, basically statistically irrelevant as the errors in measurement far out weigh the difference in percentage ...
(and remember 92% of statistics are made up on the spot )

Re: `Is this SAD or, is this SAD?`
All stats prove whatever you want them to.
Paul
I know that's true because a recent survey showed that 96.5% of statistical interpretations are accurate.
