BA/Virgin Class action...

Anyone else get "spam" emails about this?

UK businesses braced for class action suits after BA and Virgin pay out $200m - Business News, Business - The Independent

Dear Potential Class Member:

This notification is being sent to you regarding a proposed settlement that has been reached in a class action lawsuit. The lawsuit alleges that British Airways Plc and Virgin Atlantic Airways, Ltd. unlawfully conspired to fix prices of fuel surcharges imposed on “long-haul” passenger fares. Long-haul flights include most flights between the U.K. and non-E.U. destinations, including flights to and from the United States. All flights on Virgin Atlantic qualify as long-haul. Tickets must have been purchased between 11 August 2004 and 23 March 2006.

Attached to this email are copies of the court-ordered Notice and a Claim Form that you can file to apply to participate in the Settlement. Members of the Class who file a valid claim will be paid 33.3% of the passenger fuel surcharge they paid on qualifying coupons. Refund payments will range between £4 and £20 per passenger per round-trip ticket purchased in the U.K. and between $7 and $34 per passenger per round-trip ticket purchased in the U.S.

For more information about the terms of the proposed Settlement, please read the attached legal notice. You may also visit www.airpassengerrefund.co.uk. If you would prefer to file a Claim Form electronically, there is an on-line Claim process available on the website.

Please do not reply to this message. We are unable to respond to inquiries in reply to this email. If you wish to contact the Settlement Administrator, you may do so by writing to info@airpassengerrefund.co.uk. There is also an information helpline at 0 800 043-0343 (U.K. Free Phone).

This e-mail is being sent to potential Class Members as required by the Settlement Agreement and under Order of the United States District Court, Northern District of California, San Francisco Division. This is not a recurring email. Recipients can unsubscribe by clicking on the link below.

Sincerely,

Settlement Administrator

Well put my name down.

See how it pans. Must have made about half
a dozen long haul flights with BA during that
period.

Re: BA/Virgin Class action...

Quick trawl round the office suggests it's been sent only to those who had 'qualifying' flights within the time period (i.e. those that were ripped off). Company have decided they won't pursue but if we wish to as individuals we can.

May get enough back from my 10 qualifying flights to pay the fuel surcharge on one flight next year
