I'm not mad keen on snakes, tried to like/admire them and failed, they're nasty. One day a panic 'phone call from the kids saying that the snake was slithering around the lounge. My reply was put our two cats in there, close the doors and leave them to it. Got home a while later and found a dead snake and two smug looking cats, nice pussies ! Hence I like cats, they have their purpose.
Incidentally cats were reputedly imported to Cyprus to get rid of the snakes, the island was supposedly infested with them. In my jaundiced eyes it still is, snakes of many different kinds.
On first arrival in Cyprus with the RAF was told that they were only two kinds of snakes, black ones and brown ones, the black ones were poisonous, the brown ones weren't. However other people said just the opposite. The moral ? See a snake, run like hell or if in the car make sure you run over it !!
Me a squeamish coward, possibly, but I'm here to tell the tale, despite Keo, Carlsberg and Sodap's best efforts !
