Where does the Banana Spider come from? Watched a doc on that a few years ago and they said one could kill you in about 15mins if not treated.

Seriously, people wonder why i dont like these spawns from hell.

Re: Mummy!!!

I watched a program a while back with the English equivalent of Steve Irwin... he went to Borneo or somewhere to find this spider that's s'posed to be the biggest in the world.... a goliath bird eating spider ...

he found one and I kid you not the thing was the size of his head ... he put his head on the tree trunk and let the thing crawl over his face

I think you'd be able to hear my scream from Scotland !

Bunch of Wendys.

Spiders eat mozzies and flies.
Therefore you should be thanking them.

I've had one on the outside of my car. Passenger had a bit of a fit as it ran across the windscreen.

My own worst in-car spider experience was not here in Australia but in Italy. Stopped on a mountain road near Norcia for a photo. Got back in car and set off. Felt something on my neck and brushed it off. Wife looked over and said with remarkable restraint "errr... there's a very large spider on your shoulder". Bashed it off and it went on the floor under my feet. Pulled over with remarkable restraint, not forgetting to indicate. Didn't stop the Italian driver behind me beeping me!

Re: Mummy!!!

I remember one night, I couldn't work out whether I had a nightmare or if it was real. All I remember is looking up while in bed and seeing a spider run over the pillows towards me and then I jumped up and got out ridiculously quick.

Only problem is, I can't work out whether I dreamt the spider and then woke up thinking it was real or whether it actually was real.

Had a similar experience watching tele in bed.... caught some peripheral movement out of my eye but thought it was the tele light flickering on the covers.... it happenend again and this time I notice it a spider running up the duvet straight towards me ...

Suffice to say duvet was lobbed across room and bedroom was evacuated for the night.

Here's a tip: Aim for the nerve stem, and put it down for good.

Don't go for this logic. Snakes eat rats and mice so do you think we should all allow snakes to live in our homes ?

Whilst one spider running about is no great problem what is it's pregnant ? You could soon have hundred if not thousands sharing your home with you !

I find vacuuming them up on sight works for me, after all they don't share the household bills with me so why should they get a free ride ? Ahh, forgot, they do, in the Hoover bag !

Re: Mummy!!!

I knew an old lady who swallowed a fly...... I don't know why she swallowed a fly - perhaps she'll die!...then she swallowed a spider - that wriggled and jiggled and tickled inside her. She swallowed the spider to catch the fly...I still don't know why she swallowed the fly.... perhaps she'll die!?

Then she swallowed a cat - fancy that, she swallowed a cat. She swallowed the cat to catch the spider - that wriggled and jiggled and tickled inside her. She swallowed the spider to catch the fly...I still don't know why she swallowed the fly.... perhaps she'll die

Ho Ho Ho Ho Ho Ho Ho Ho Ho Ho

He see's you when your swimming...
...Below you and your wake.
He knows if you taste bad or good...

So beware for goodness sake!

Cats also like snakes, but they don't eat 'em ! Living in Cyprus some years ago we knew we had a small snake living in a hole in the steps leading up to the bedroom level, sometimes saw it's head looking out. I'm not mad keen on snakes, tried to like/admire them and failed, they're nasty. One day a panic 'phone call from the kids saying that the snake was slithering around the lounge. My reply was put our two cats in there, close the doors and leave them to it. Got home a while later and found a dead snake and two smug looking cats, nice pussies ! Hence I like cats, they have their purpose.

Incidentally cats were reputedly imported to Cyprus to get rid of the snakes, the island was supposedly infested with them. In my jaundiced eyes it still is, snakes of many different kinds.

On first arrival in Cyprus with the RAF was told that they were only two kinds of snakes, black ones and brown ones, the black ones were poisonous, the brown ones weren't. However other people said just the opposite. The moral ? See a snake, run like hell or if in the car make sure you run over it !!

Me a squeamish coward, possibly, but I'm here to tell the tale, despite Keo, Carlsberg and Sodap's best efforts !
