the meek shall inherit....
another wee ramble for y'all.....gawd im getting cynical in my old age...
first they came for the jews, and i did not speak out, because i was not a jew
then they came for the communists, and i did not speak out, because i was not a communist
then they came for the trade unionists, and i did not speak out, because i was not a trade unionist
then they came for me, and there was no one left to speak out for me

a group of men and women are standing on the top of a mountain, looking out over this planet we call our home, lets call them The Meek for arguments sake, and the sake of this sordid little tale. the rivers, once crystal clear and free flowing, now sluggishly grind their way across the landscape like large pregnant snakes, their bellies full of mud and debris picked up along their route. the earth itself is scorched. dry, lifeless grass with a nutritional value less than the square route of f*ck all sparsely covers some of it, some of it is just a dust bowl, like a bad scene from a bad sci-fi film, but this aint fiction, this is fact....****, i guess all those warnings about damaging the ozone layer were true. still, no need to worry about it now, its nonfu*kinexistant!!. ravenous wild animals roam the plains looking for something, anything to eat, to keep them going for another day..why?...carcasses litter the area, their bones picked white by scavengers and then sand blasted by the terrible winds that blow across the post apocalyptic plains every day....
....God appears before the unsmiling group....its all yours guys, He says...thats your inheritance....
.. One of the group indignantly shouts..we dont want this, how can this be right, we have endured everythin You have put on this earth to test us, we have seen leaders come and go, some good, some bad, and we have kept our opinions to ourselves..We haven't rocked any boats cos we knew our day would come...We have watched the greedy prosper, the politicians lie and cheat their way to power, we have suffered the consequences of their lies..the wars, the famines, the constant plundering of our heritage, our inheritance..we meekly accepted it all.....
...God looks at the pathetic group and gazes out over His once wonderful Creation...He shrugs His shoulders, He saw this coming..He had shares in it all, the oil, the land, the sea, the people...but God is omnipotent and He saw this nasty fu*kin mess comin with all the unstoppable energy of a train wreck...so He sold his shares at the top of the market, He got out, He wants to fu*kin retire and stop worrying about this parasitical race of war mongering destructive heathens that have raped His creation of all Her good and left Her tired and barren...He made us in His own [censored] image and only lost His concentration at the end..old age comes to us all it would seem!!...
...God turns back to The Meek, His anger growing, He has tried to use His powers wisely, He has always tried to be fair...He had thought His people would have sorted it out themselves, He had been wrong...This is it, He shouts, this is all I have left to give, Ya coulda fu*kin said something, Ya coulda fu*kin stood up, Ya coulda fu*kin stopped this...God turns His back on The Meek, just as The Meek have always turned their backs on everything else....
...And then God realises..The Meek have misunderstood His book..The Meek Shall Inherit The Earth was not meant to be a promise of a reward for their behaviour, it was a fu*kin warning against it ... The Meek, it appears, who coulda had it all, will inherit nothing!!....
...The Good Lord therefore becomes the last in a seemingly unending line of people to tell The Meek to go f*ck themselves...
....Ya get what Ya give in this life
