Re: Whats your most loved possesion?
Mine would be an old replica Stradivarius violin that has been handed down through my family to me. I remember my dad (now passed on) playing it when I was a child, so it brings me memories of my childhood. Wish I could play it!

Re: Whats your most loved possesion?
no Alfas or partners - they are the obvious easy answers
I guess I should have put that in the title rather than just in the first post

Re: Whats your most loved possesion?
been thinking about this one a bit more since i said 'my memories'.... i don't think i have any material possessions that i really treasure, all the stuff i have is very ordinary - no posh watches or anything like that. the thing i would want to hold onto most would be my music collection i suppose but that's always replaceable at the end of the day. i used to say my photos were very treasured but they're all scanned & backed up in a couple of places so they're safe...
the things i really wanted were some 6 foot replica yachts my grandfather made by hand in his shed donkey's years ago. absolute works of art they are, total perfection, took him years to make. he died when i was 10 and they stayed in the house with my grandmother until she died a couple of years ago. i so wanted those yachts but we simply haven't got the room in our house but thankfully my uncle has rescued them from being sold and has promised me he will pass them on to me whenever i can find the space for them. so i suppose i've yet to even possess my most loved possession

Re: Whats your most loved possesion?
I have some possesion of my last grandad, he passed away just before I was born but I have his medals and a world war 2 map with mud and blood stains on it. I've never had a grandad but they remind me of him anyway.

Re: Whats your most loved possesion?
AL I also have a valued posession that I don't posess yet! My dads medals from when he was in active service in the army as you can imagine it will be one of the worst days of my life when I do get them so for now I don't mind him hanging on to them

Re: Whats your most loved possesion?
Thought provoking Thread Vince.
I've looked around and realize that I'm pretty well set up. Decent house, pretty much all new stuff in it and all the boys toys that I want, home cinema etc etc ad nauseam. Do you know what, all of this doesn't mean that much to me, it's all just somewhere for me to " be. "
Did recover some old photo's and LP's from my " previous life " , these evoke some poignant and mostly happy memories so these are my treasures, as worthless as they would be for anyone else.
Then again I have hope for and belief in the future, there's still life in this world weary old dog yet !

Re: Whats your most loved possesion?
My most valued possession is a realisation and memory.
Like many/most of us I rated myself and success via the Western medium of possessions. I have a house, good job (although I forget sometimes and ***** about it), nice car, posh hi-fi etc etc etc.
I was on a specialist "adventure" holiday in Morocco and spend 10 days in remote villages and the Sahara. These people have fook all, they are immediately welcoming, with no agenda. They are "happy" as long as there is food in their belly etc. I had the most relaxing, clear headed week of my life - no exaggeration.
Since I got back I am doing my hardest to remember the people I met and the feelings they evoked. I have to admit it's hard. Small things like browsing the web looking for something to buy. In the context of my experience how absurd is that. Not dreaming of a bigger house, my next car – there is nothing wrong with mine.
I hope that accepting what I have and enjoying it, rather than endlessly searching for happiness, fulfilment etc via the power of the wallet.
It's something I have known and we are all told money/toys don't bring happiness but it has taken a view of the other side to understand.
“We are all atheists about most of the gods that humanity has ever believed in. Some of us just go one god further.”
