Why the suspicion?
One man's conspiracy theory is another man's research.
We are subjected to other people's agendas every time we switch on the telly or pick up a news paper. And remember, conspiracy theories are posted on a daily basis on this forum by established AOers, whether they be sound bites or local news reports, and form the basis of an opinion/rant.
Worth a watch I'd say - if one's attention can cope. It's interesting, informative stuff.
I'd be very wary of the big pharmaceutical firms and the power they weald over our lives.

Because most conspiracy theories involve some shadowy group called "they" who seem to have enough time on their hands to plot all sorts of dastardly deeds when, the truth be told, there are far more important things to be getting on with. It's a well known fact that the more complex lies become and the more people that become involved the less chance something has of remaining hidden.
The other reason is that the internet is a breeding ground for all sorts of people with grievances and the means to pick and choose their facts without any risk of rebuttal. Just do a search of google on the very links posted above and see if you can find a counter-argument - the absence of such things shows how seriously they are taken by those that think it's nonsense and also how hung-up on these theories are the people who support them.
IMO they are bred by the internet and fostered by the fall of religion, but that's another story

Conspiracy theories - anything which goes against the "official" news is described as a conspiracy theory.
As Jed rightly says, "We are subjected to other people's agendas every time we switch on the telly or pick up a news paper."
We went to war, because the government lied about WMD. The BBC documentary about the WTC7 collapse, tried to explain it away by using the opinions of experts from the US government - the very people implicated in the event. There was very little time given to independent experts - architects, engineers, who were prepared to speak out.
Our government and the mainstream media are quite capable of colluding, in order to keep things from us - Prince Harry in Afghanistan - John Snow was critical of the media silence, because it set a very dangerous precedent.

Watergate - another major conspiracy that was exposed.
The number of "small" conspiracies that have been exposed defies belief, yet we are supposed to believe there are huge, global conspiracies that, apparently, rely on unknown internet geeks to expose them. Why no major newspapers, why no Pulitzer prizes, why aren't these stories being followed up by reliable investigators?
I'm not saying there aren't conspiracies - I'm just saying on the scale that some of these are mooted they are just too ridiculous to be true. |

I'd be suprised whether you actually took the time to watch these before you arrived at this view. Sadly, like many other people, I'd guess you'd already made your mind up
It's easy to generalise, and to some degree demonise, these type of stories whose main medium can ONLY viably be via the internet. Who would follow up the story Mr Fraser? CNN, the Times, the daily Express, the Beeb? Fox News??!! Should I go on.....?
All I'd say is that I hope you meet ALL stories you hear with equal levels of suspicion as those that seem to tell a different side to the story from your preferred sources. You don't need to be a geeky conspiracy theorist to understand that we are continually being socially conditioned in our daily lives (global media, advertising, global industries etc) - have you ever read George Orwell??
I hope I don't come across as being a paranoid loon I do tend to gain as much info as possible before making a decision (Libran  ) and am the first to give people the benefit of the doubt. However, I do have a desire to hear two sides to a story and question the slant I hear via the "trusted" media corporations (especially those that I feel directly affect me or my family). As Andyalfagtv said, you don't have to look too long ago or too far from home to discover monumental levels of mis-truth and paranoia spread that have resulted in life-changing circumstances for us all (terrorist laws, freedom of speech, defense spending etc etc).
Anyhoo - our original poster seems to have done a runner, and not stayed to argu his/her point - so I guess you may have proved your point
