Anyone want to employ me?

I have the most rediculous boss at the moment.

Ok start from the beginning, I am the Commercial Manager for a firm in north devon that has a boss who seems to communicate via telepathy.......we have an IT manager who doubles up as web developer and today we had a pc blow up....so the person needed setting up with a new one (they are all at least 6 years old) I have just been e-mailed asking why he is doing this when we have a service contract with a company in MANCHESTER!!! (yeah, software support, not hardware) so basically gave me a hard time about that as the boss wants the websites amended.....as in yesterday.
We also work 9-5 with a half hour for lunch (which no-one ever takes). Some people smoke....ie 5 min fag break in morning and 5 mins in afternoon. We have now been told that if we want to smoke then we have to work an extra half hour per day......FFS
Some bosses dont realise that there needs to be a little give as well as take
Rant over......now who wants me??

Actually this should be in the rant room....maybe a nice mod could move it for me??

Good luck with the new job once you find one Stu, sounds like you've had enough.

Re: Anyone want to employ me?

Just fed up with not being told stuff and then being expected to know things. Its unreasonable and to be honest it comes across as bullying to all in here

Re: Anyone want to employ me?

Have a look at direct.gov.uk they have advice there with regards to breaks. Check your contract with regards to breaks, they can't make you work an extra half an hour to make up for 10 minutes of fag-breaks. They also can't change your contract on a whim, there needs to be a consultation and warning period, I believe.

Sounds like the MD may be a bit of an a-hole.

This strikes a chord with me, as I'm also looking for a new job, I've spent all morning on various job sites.

Good luck buddy.

Re: Anyone want to employ me?

The ex is having problems in his job that sound a lot like your boss, and has filed a grievance about him as he's had enough of it. He's also looking for another job, and has an interview on Monday.. (fingers crossed)
I can't believe how much it's effected the ex at home, he literary has to make himself go to work, in a job he loved before the new boss took over.
I really think if he didn't have a shared responsibility with the house he'd have just walked out by now..
Good luck with the job hunt Rafe

That is a Bl00dy quick turn over.. Do you think it's all because of the same man ??
If so he's costing the company a hell of a lot of money in training people only for them to leave because of him..

Re: Anyone want to employ me?

I know how you feel! I worked for a publishing company a few months back and the director told me I couldn't eat in my office and then used to go and eat a massive meal in his! He told me I had to talk down to the staff and clients! He would blame me for everything that went wrong even in the design department (I was the BDM and marketing manager) and then we had clients complaining about him. Staff turnover was 100% just before I started and this happened 3 times in 7 years so I gave him the finger. Now I work for P4U as a sales manager so I have had to take a big step back but im determind to work hard and move up the ladder as thats all that matters really.

Re: Anyone want to employ me?

thats very similar to the industry we are involved in.. I think one of the problems is that there is no training from the top..at all, i certainly never had one jot of it, everyone just tries to help the newbie round here...and whats Office Monkey when its at home?

There is a union for everyone, why work without a contract?
