Ahhhh..........the Statutory Charge....

Your lawyer was obviously rubbish.... or his client had unreasonable expectations as can often happen.

A good lawyer explains the law and manages their clients' expectations

Re: Wedding Costs.

Thanks again to all, some interesting experiences and ideas related here ! Have calmed down a bit since yesterday so becoming a bit more rational than I was yesterday - sort of destroyed my laid back image briefly !

Seems that my daughter has only a vague idea of the plans so am going to leave them to it to sort out then tell my ex what I think. If she thinks I'm going to pay a fortune to entertain people I or my daughter don't know or like just so she can play the snob she will have to think again, there are a few very rare occasions when Nige can become Nasty Nige, this may turn out to be one of them !

Like the idea of taking a glamorous girlfriend or making off with a bridesmaid. Just one thing though - can anyone recommend a good plastic surgeon !!

If you keep the 12K and use that to play with
over the week leading up to the wedding, you will
not need any plastic surgery.

Re: Wedding Costs.

£12K

i can only dream of 12k, im getting married next may and so far we are up to £22k, and we didnt even go for the most expensive venue we looked at. its astounding how expensive things are.

we are even getting some freebies like the invitations are being made my her mother and the bridesmade dresses are being made by the best man, but it all adds up, one photographer we went to see had a package that cost 12k but it was the fact that he kept banging on about how he had done james blunts wedding that really put us off

2 cars-750
venue-4000
catering-4500
photographer-900
videographer-1000
alcohol-2000
etc etc it all adds up

we are saving on the honeymoon though

3 weeks overlanding in Kenya,Tanzania,Rwanda, and Uganda-1750 for the 2 of us

jeez im glad im only gonna do this once

Videographer? - get your mates with their handycams and edit them
later.

22k? It is all relative I suppose - if this represents, say, 10% of your annual income then so what?

If it IS your annual income then WTF are you doing?

Anything in between is debatable either way.

Paul.
