Does anyone dive?

I'm bored.... so I just wondered...

Does anyone on here dive (SCUBA) ? I'm just nearing the completion of my open water course and looking forward to going diving in Spain next year

Re: Does anyone dive?

Yup, I do and so does Happy Man, looking at doing Open Water soon as well then maybe on to something like the National Geographic Photography Course.

My grilfriend has dived in the Med and her words were "The Med is Dead" as in there's absolutely nothing to see, at the complete other end of the spectrum you have the Red Sea. We dived with these guys a couple of years ago and it was awesome, I want to go back and do one of their dive cruises.

Re: Does anyone dive?

Awesome I am planning to go to the Red Sea next year but this year I'm concentrating on getting the qualifications in the UK (Freeeeeeezing) so I can dive straight off abroad

I also want to do underwater photography. I enjoy photography a lot, but, not sure i'd be too happy taking my dslr underwater

Well I can recommend a hotel, we spent the week here

http://www.hiltonworldresorts.com/Re...lls/index.html

We went around January time and it was still in the 80s and sea temperature was fine. The resort itself is self contained with great restaurants and lots of pools it also has it's own house reef. We managed to get in there for just under £300 per person, rooms are more like apartments and have all mod cons.

Obviously diving would be on top of that with whoever you use but they send a mini bus out to pick uyou up from your hotel and take you to whichever dive centre your going to go with.

I bet it was, first time under it took me 3 attempts to actually breath under water, feels completely unnatural at first but once you;ve been under for half an hour it's just amazing.

Got any pics of where it was you were?

Re: Does anyone dive?

Yeah, I didn't have trouble with the breathing bit.... the taking the mask off underwater is another thing altogether though! I have no problem taking the mask off fully, just letting a little bit of water in to do the mask clear just make me panic and try to breathe through my nose

I think I've got it sorted now though!

Re: Does anyone dive?

I started to do it when I worked for HMPS in the early 90's. We took several "close to release" hand picked inmates to a local school pool on a Sunday where Swansea Sub Aqua club.

Went really well, taught trust and dependability but the local papers got hold of it and it got quashed

Would love to give it ago, in a warm climate though

Re: Does anyone dive?

You can dive perfectly comfortably in this country... just perhaps in a dry suit

Re: Does anyone dive?

Me and the wife got our PADI certificates in Honduras. The four day course only cost $175 and included accommodation. The diving was amazing and visibilty went on for ever. I would reccomend diving to anyone.

Just wait till you have to take off your BCD tank and put it all back on underwater

Oh yes the fun exercise of the malfunctioning regulator

Seriously I loved every minute of it
Can't wait to get back down there

Been looking on ebay for a wet suit, new mask and fins, boots and a dive computer
