If everyone continued their routine, then there wouldn't be any shortage of fuel.
The only difference between now and last week, is that instead of there being a given amount of fuel in the pumps, where we can all get to it if and when we need it, it's now being transported around the country in paranoid peoples cars, just in case they need it.

It's called 'forward planning'.

I might need a couple of hundred tins of beans, just in case the bomb drops tomorrow. Bit of forward planning can't hurt, can it?
Better rush of to Asda now.

Its quite the opposite actually. We are talking about a 4 day stoppage which wouldn't have had any effect on supplies but for peoples' irrational behaviour.
Its people like you with irrational thoughts and behaviour who are causing the problems for everyone else.

I personally don't see the dropping of THE BOMB as a an issue at this time....
But if you have a fear of that then you must act as you see fit...
It is your rational response to your perceived situation.

I'm sorry.... but I feel that people's reaction to a perceived threat is entirely rational. But then you may have spotted that.
I am sick and tired of the media exploiting a situation created by a minority... and I am sick and tired of 'reporters' standing at petrol stations saying there isn't a problem.... and I am sick and tired of people being branded as 'panic buyers' when their response to a situation is entirely understandable.

I have an irrational fear of spiders....but as i realise that, it appears totally rational to me as they are freaky scary looking little b*stards.

Re: Panic buying petrol - PLONKERS
Rephrase "panic Buying" to Believing there is a shortage of something when there is not. Even when you are told repeatedly there is no shortage. Then buying more of that something in case there is a shortage. Which intern causes a shortage. A self professing proficy. Or in other words. "panic buying".
If it can be justified that any reaction to a given perception or threat whether real or not is a pretty scary. Thank god some people have restraint and pause for thought. Thats not to say it's a natural thing for us humans to do, but we should stop it ;-)
Exact situation happened and is happening in th stock markets of late. All the traders react to perceived threat when in fact it could be argued that the downturn etc was is no where near as bad as it is. But "panic" buying and selling is perpetuating the problem.
I've had a few beers not sure if any of that makes sence or is correct. hehe
