Help - .dll error

Every time I log on to my home PC I get this daft message that says a .DLL file is missing. I know this is essentially spyware and I've run Spybot, which has cleared a lot of malware - but I'm still getting the message and my screen freezes from time to time (think the two are related). Any of you IT gurus out there have a solution?

Re: Help - .dll error

Erm, yes it does, but I'll need to log off again to check. Got to go out now anyway - be back with the info later.

Re: Help - .dll error

Normally means something has messed with windows a little bit. A repair install normally solves it.

Re: Help - .dll error

Fraser, download this and run both tools. I use it all the time and it does wonders for cleaning out the trash.

CCleaner - Home

Also try typing msconfig at the run prompt and under Startup tab in msconfig uncheck each item (one at a time) then restart to see if and which one of them is the offending item.

Re: Help - .dll error

OK, the filename is M3PLUGIN.DLL.

I'll try CCleaner - thanks GD.

Yes I did. Went through that procedure last night and that didn't work either.

Re: Help - .dll error

Download and install SUPERAntiSpyware FREE:

SUPERAntiSpyware.com - AntiAdware, AntiSpyware, AntiMalware!

Launch the program and update it by clicking Check for Updates... (you must have internet access).

Restart the program after updating.

Click Preferences, then the Scanning Control tab, in Scanner Options, make sure you tick

- Close browsers before scanning.
- Scan for tracking cookies.
- Terminate memory threats before quarantining.

And nothing else. Click Close.

Now you should click Scan your Computer..., select Perform Complete Scan, click Next and wait patiently until the scan ends and lists the items found.

Click OK and Next to process the cleanup.

Close the program, restart the PC and test.

Good luck.

Re: Help - .dll error

OK, think I've cured it using Malwarebytes - as recommended on the Dell users forum. Thanks for your suggestions though - I may be back if it reappears.
