Re: Wow those Rangers fans know how to kick off...

if only the money spent on players was spent on trying to
get rid of hooligans The FA , to me, should look at that

most footy fans attend with no bother ... it's a pity that some fookwits screw it all up

can you imagine the hoo-hah though if it was an english team involved, sepp blatter et al would be foaming at the mouth, demanding a ban on all english clubs from europe

the problem with bins raymondo me old mucka is that since those lovely chaps in the IRA decided to blow the centre of Manchester up things like bins and other such hiding places for bombs were reduced to very few .. its a tough one ... huge responsibility has to be taken when organising a massive event such as this .. i remember coming out of the Muse concert with my good lady at the newly opened wembley stadium walking down a sort of concrete walled walkway that channelled us out of the place towards the tube to be met by a line of mounted police in helmets etc..talk about intimidating... there was of course absolutely no trouble, no drunks, no fights and yet here was a line of mounted police which we had to walk through ..now all you needed was a group of lads with a skin full to take offense at their over the top presence and things could so easily have got very nasty in that confined space with about eighty thousand people ... moving that many people around in any area needs careful planning and proper coordination...there is of course no excuse for attacking a policeman as the clowns who let the 90% of decent rangers fans down did ..eeehhh youth of today

You're quite right on that point Andy.

I sort of agree with Ray that some larger wheelie skips might have been strategically placed around the squares. Having said that, judging by the 100 tonnes of alcohol containers cleared by 10am next day alone the chances are they wouldn't have been enough or even used if they were more than 5 yards from a fan.

They are also perfectly right to complain about a lack of toilets. I mean, it really was selfish and inconsiderate not to build or rent at least 5000 mixed toilets, would we have needed more or less for 150,000 for the day? I'm not sure how much room we'd have needed for that many lavvies and, without doubt, the fans would have moaned about how much room they took up. They've had a go about everything else!

Nostalgia isn't what it used to be.

Its a pity 'fookwits' in life screw, or at least try to screw everything up really for the 'good' people, whether it be in going to watch Football or just going out for a beer and having to walk past groups of drunk chavs acting hard in front of teenage slags, who because you don't wear a shell suit out in town your the 'enemy' and they feel fit to make sniddy remarks and aim to threaten to prove that altough they are thick and have no jobs they somehow have one up on you.................

I love Glasgow - as you say, similar snidey prejudices usually from people who have never been.
Yes I agree, Liverpool and Glasgow, cities of culture, not Madchester obviously
