Im just home from Manchester and frankly i dont like being tarred with the same brush. We had a great time. What you all need to remember is that it was a small minority of people that were causing the trouble. The officials have now said, there was in excess of 170,000 fans in Manchester last night. 99% of them were just there for the party, and what a party it was. Manchester put on a great show!

Exactly i would like to see 170,000 England fans behave themselves as well as the majority of Rangers fans did

Defending the indefensible is something Tories are pretty good at though mind you.
Our credit controller's husband and son were at the game and were with 50 other supporters walking towards the railway sation, which had been shut. The police method of telling them to turn round was charging them and hitting them on the backs of the legs with their batons. Her husband had to defend his son by stopping a policeman in his tracks and telling he was with a 14 year old .

Her son is home now but is pretty shaken up by the police behaviour.

You're right - the minority of brainless eejits did indeed let the side down. I trust Rangers will do their damndest to track down the culprits and ban them from future matches.

Really? i don't believe posting link to a news bullitin about Rangers fans spitting dummy out of pram is Racist at all. And if you refering to my remarks about Gordon Brown then i shan't appologise for that, he was a pretty competant Chancelor but frankly i can't wait till he's ousted as PM......

Aye, well done Ray. Claim the Scots are being hard done by and then generalise in exactly the same way about the English.
You're better than that.

Re: Wow those Rangers fans know how to kick off...

if you took a town of 170,000 people and counted the number of arrests for drunken/violent behaviour on any given saturday night i bet there'd be more than there was in manchester last night. just because they were football fans suddenly the media paint a picture of carnage and rampaging hooligans. 99.9 % of rangers fans were perfectly well behaved despite the fact the city council had woefully underestimated the number of travelling fans and couldn't even sort out a tv screen. the people involved in the violence are obviously f*cking idiots but it's grossly unfair to assume that all rangers fans are nutters

can you imagine the hoo-hah though if it was an english team involved, sepp blatter et al would be foaming at the mouth, demanding a ban on all english clubs from europe

Glad to hear it. There has been talk of up to 200,000 being here.

However, I've been a bit disappointed to hear so many Rangers fans on radio bleating about it all being Manchester's and/or the Police's fault that there was some violence, and a lot of cars and windows smashed up.

Apparently, it is all the city's fault for not having enough (FREE) facilities, not being made welcome (b011ocks ), deliberately turning off the screen in Piccadilly Gardens (so why not all the others? )

About double the numbers their own people said would travel actually turned up and they moan we couldn't cope when they got bevvied up and violent when the free telly broke! Local news even showed them fighting among themselves FFS!

OK, so a big screen failed. They were upset - understandable. But what is with all this whining that Manchester didn't lay on more screens or a fleet of coaches to get 30,000 of them from Piccadilly to the Velodrome 15 mins drive away? The other one at Albert Square five minutes' walk away was fine but the area was chocka block.

Some of them proved that the legendary Scottish fans' behaviour is perhaps not quite the ideal they like to portray at every big campaign.

FINALLY (sorry I got ranting), WTF is all this talk by Gordon Brown about them putting at risk the World Cup bid for England? They are SCOTTISH fans who came here for a game against a RUSSIAN team and it was a small percentage of the SCOTTISH fans who were a disgrace to their nation, their club and society.

Sorry - rant over....

Ah well. We go on about the England fans when they misbehave. We've got to take some stick when Scottish fans do the same I suppose.

Re: Wow those Rangers fans know how to kick off...

A couple of points - UEFA have to take some responsibility for using such a relatively small ground for the final. Old Trafford was unused that night and holds 30000 more. Compare the choice of Man City's ground for this final with Wembley for the League 1 play-off final (good luck Leeds!) where with the best will in the world the ground will be only 2/3 full at best and you have to wonder about the people that run football.

Its the original post that was generalising about Rangers fans, I think the majority of REAL fans from all nations behave themselves its the minority that wreck it for everyone else
