i dont speak welsh at all..tho my mother is pure welsh...carmathen born and bred! i didnt even have to learn welsh in school....

I bet all the folk from North Wales speak Welsh.

Just like North Scotland and the Islands speaking Gaelic.

There's not so many down here that do.

I think it's a good thing not to let a language die.

My GF works for one of these government funded/ QUANGO/ NGO organisation things and the cuffuffle with translations they have is unbelievable. I can't help but think the amount of our taxes the Welsh Assembly spends translating from English to Welsh could be far better spent on schools and hospitals.

The further west you go, the more Welsh is spoken. Here in Wrexham (NE Wales) you very rarely hear it but my wife, who is currently working in Bangor (nr Anglesey, NW Wales), says about 70% of people will start a conversation with her in Welsh.

I imagine it's the same with S Wales
