21-09-2008
Hi everyone,

This is the first event that myself and Frankie have tried to organise so we would love as much support as possible from you guys.

This date clashes with the Tredegar Park Classic Car Show (Newport) but we are looking at arranging a meet with the main event being karting on the same day.

I have spoken to a few local karting places and the best deal that I am able to get it is as follows:-

A choice of either a grand prix with heats / final etc or an enduro event where teams of two race to clock up as many laps as possible (Le Mans style) where pit stops must be made - more track time in the enduro event according to the person I spoke to.

The cost for the karting is £40 - this is a two hour session and we must have a minimum of 14 people attend to have the track to ourselves.

The maximum number of people is 24 so there is limited availability for this one - as many as you want to watch.

I have provisionally booked this for 2PM on 21.09.08 - we have one week to confirm the booking so please RSVP asap.

My thoughts are that as some of the AOSW guys are thinking of joining us for this one - maybe we could make more of a day of it for those travelling and if they are interested we could maybe use the following as an itinery:-

09.30 Meet at Cleppa park Asda (By Tredegar Park) Junction 28 off M4

10.00 Visit Tredegar park car show (£6 entry approx)

13.15 Meet Cardiff gate services (5 miles from Tred Park) leave at 13.30 for karting.

14.00 - 16.00 karting.

All those who are interested in attending please clearly state which meet you are coming to or if you are attending both - If both are you karting or watching.

Look forward to thrashing the boys from across the border.

Sean & Frankie

Ladies and gents - as frankie has just said there is limited space so this is strictly on a first come first serve basis for the karting - however as many as we like to watch.

Maybe, planning to go on holiday 'sometime' in September when all the kids are back to scool and not on the beaches. If I'm about I'll pop down for the meet and the car show but can't put a definite yes on the karting so best to count me out of that.

The kids would probably love a kart each - tracks aint cheap around here though - still may be good fun as the little un is a right petrolhead

The junior classes start racing at 8yo.....and you can start fairly cheaply as lots more kids stuff on the mkt cos they grow out of it

Re: The Big Battle - Wales v England

Racing season starts in Feb so that would give them a month to get used to driving the karts and to do their licences (they have to do theory and practical test, the practical is to drive round a track within a certain percentage of a regular lap time and the make sure they wont be dangerous)
