Anyone used Dutton Forshaw in Cardiff yet?

Obviously lots of us attended the opening of the new Alfa dealer (Dutton Forshaw) in Cardiff recently, but has anyone actually used them for servicing yet?

My GT is due it's annual service in a month or so and I'm wondering if they know their stuff or not.

I went in to buy some oil a couple of weeks ago and they didn't seem to know what oil the JTS engine required. They did have the right stuff in stock (when I insisted on Selenia 10w60) but the guy on the desk admitted he still had to get to grips with Alfas as they'd only recently changed over from Peugeot. It didn't inspire me with much confidence.

So, if anyone's used them, please share your views on service, quality and price! Thanks!

Re: Anyone used Dutton Forshaw in Cardiff yet?

I have just gotten back from them through ordering parts for my Bella.

The guy in the parts department, Jeff, said he loves that they now are an Alfa dealership, its just taking time to switch over from Pug to Alfa. But, by the looks of it they are going to be a Pug and Alfa dealership, atleast for the near future.

I am pretty sure they will know what they are doing, otherwise they would not have taken the Marque on...

Besides, its all under warrenty, if it breaks then its fixed for free

Re: Anyone used Dutton Forshaw in Cardiff yet?

Like N13 ROY I also bought my Alfa from Fish Bros. I jhad my first service at Waterfall in Bridgend and they did a good job at a really good price. Its VAT registered so there's no issue with the warranty.
However, my climate control fan sounds like a cricket is trapped behind the footwell when its on low speed. I'll need this looked at under warranty so I'm off to make an appointment with Dutton Forshaw tomorrow.

Hey Tony,

I work just off Queen St for a web design company. Living in Swansea though, commuting every day.

I am indeed looking for an Alfa! I've got a thread all about it...

I took my 147 to NJS in pershore who did a great job on the cambelt replacement. Will be interesting to see what people think of DF as it is our local dealer.

Re: Anyone used Dutton Forshaw in Cardiff yet?

They were alright with parts. Got good rates, the parts turned up when they said they would and the guy on the parts desk (Geoff) is a real star!

Edit: Parts actually have not turned up. I thought they had because the guy I had working on Bella was going down to DF.

But, they are going to be atleast a week late

Re: Anyone used Dutton Forshaw in Cardiff yet?

Well, the debate on whether Dutton Forshaw are any good is now fairly irrelevant to me - I've just rung up them and LC Motors in Newport for quotes on a 4 year service on my GT:

Dutton Forshaw - £270.91
LC Motors - £185.00

No contest. I've used LC Motors many times in the past (for servicing my 156, and to fix an airbag problem on my GT last year) and they were very good. Shame that Dutton are so much more expensive.

But if anyone DOES use Dutton, then still post views here please as you never know, they may get more competitive in the future!
