I can't see anything on the site that says you have to, give happysnapper a PM to see what he says.
If I was doing it, I'd get insurance anyway, not worth the risk on a daily driver IMO

As you know your car insurance isn’t valid at a trackday and some policies say if the car is used on a trackday it invalidates the policy. So if you do use your car for the track you need to tape over the number plates so insurance companies can’t identify your car from photo’s taken on the day and published on the net.

You don’t need insurance for a trackday. Any damage to your car by yourself or by another driver comes out your own pocket. I believe damage to the circuit comes out of the organisers pocket.

There are specialist insurance companies that supply trackday cover. The last time I checked it was a £100 or so.

I’ve done 20 or so trackdays and never taken insurance out for the day and I don’t know anyone who ever has. The days are normally very well disciplined with overtaking rules so car to car accidents shouldn’t happen and I’ve never seen car to car contact. I have seen cars hit the barriers and they are for some reason always Italian red supercars. Saw a F40 go up in flames once.

If you haven’t done a trackday before I recommend you get instruction on the day or read books about how to drive round corners and the racing line. The most common mistake first timers make is turning into the corner to soon. You then hit an early apex, run out of room on the exit and go off onto the grass. Start by taking it steady with late turn ins and making sure you touch the inside apex curb. This gives you lots of space on the exit. Then bit by bit start turning in earlier and gradually increase your speed through the corner until you find the fast line.

Brakes. Make sure you service them a few days before and take a new set of pads with you. If you don’t know how service and change pads or have the tools make sure you take a mate with you that does. I myself have never had to change the pads at a trackday, but I have seen cars go through two sets in a day.

Well what can i say but what Brynd say's is spot on .

I have only once been covered by insurance on a day and that was at the Nurburgring in a track car that cost me 4 times the value of my road car.

There is free tuition at the day by a chap called Mike Wilds ( ex F1 etc ) and he is very very good so you wont be left to your own devices.

It is a great track and at a great time of year as well so well worth thinking about.
