Yes, you guessed it, we're raring to go with another meet straight on the back of our successful EVO Triangle 2010 run.

'The 3 Castles & A Pier Job'

On this run we will be visiting/passing by the following places -

LLANDUDNO (including a lap of the Great Orme - the road they use on the Cambrian Rally - known as Marine Drive - starts at Llandudno Pier) - CONWY CASTLE - BETWS Y COED - PORTHMADOG - CRICCIETH CASTLE - PWLLHELI - NEFYN - CAERNARFON CASTLE - ending with a refreshing drink for anyone who would like to stop off at the Mulberry Pub on Conwy Marina.

So, if anyone would like to come along and have another day out in beautiful North Wales and join a great bunch of Italian car enthusiasts, just RSVP.

The day will also be open to any make of Italian Car, due to the success and feedback of the link up of all the Alfas, Abarths, Fiat Coupes, Lancias & Maserati from the 2010 EVO Run.

Route Details -

Google Map Route

Tomtom Route File

Start: Llandudno (Meet at Llandudno Retail Park at 10.30am) - Then along the Promenade to the Pier and Great Orme with a circuit of Marine Drive - There is a toll payment on this road. I think it's £1.20 or something). Follow this round where we will then end up on Llandudno's West Shore.

Then head to Llandudno Junction (through Deganwy) on the A546 - Then at the Roundabout turn right onto A547 over the bridge to Conwy and past Conwy Caslte. Then turn left underneath the castle at the mini roundabout and follow the B5106 (through Dolgarrog & Trefriw - at Llanrwst turn Right past Gwydir Castle) all the way to Betws-y-coed.

Once in Betws y Coed turn Right onto the A5 then follow that road past Swallow Falls and through Capel Curig then turn left onto the A4086 head on this road all the way to Beddgelert - Then turn left at the junction on the small bridge onto the A498 to Porthmadog. Turn left at Tremadog and then into Porthmadog over the level crossng and past the Tesco store on to a small roundabout. Turn Right onto A497 heading for Criccieth, Once in Criccieth pull on down to the Promenade beneath Criccieth Castle for lunch. (Usually Ample Parking, but I think it is a pay & Display/ Toliets also available here).

After lunch back onto the Main road in Criccieth town centre turn left back onto the A497 to Pwllheli . Then follow all the way to Pwllheli - At the junction in Pwllheli (with the Tesco Store directly in front of you) Turn Left and follow round the main road into the town. Past another Supermarket Aldi I think on the left. Through the Traffic lights and head out on the A499 for 1 mile past a Petrol Station & car dealership on the left hand side. At the junction turn right for Nefyn on the A497 (this road runs for about 7 miles to Nefyn trees cover the road in an arch formation in places and it's a great little driving road)

Then at the end of this road you will come to a roundabout turn right onto the B4417 heading through the Nefyn. This road continues through TWO other villages Pistyll & Llithfaen (both these village have speed bumps, so caution when going over them. Sorry Guys. Lol). The road round these parts is also quite narrow and twisty and has steep down hill & uphill gradiants in places , But it is nice and challenging with great scenery thrown in.

Then at the end of this road you will come to a junction. Turn left onto the main A499 towards Caernarfon which is about 18 miles from this point. (Some roadworks maybe littered along this road in some places as they have been improving it for the last 2 years).

Then once we get into Caernarfon pull off into the main town to either have a quick stop and take pictures with a few laps of the round that goes around the entire Caernarfon Castle.

Then head back towards Bangor on the A487 then begin following signs at the big roundabouts for A55 Chester/Conwy. Then down A55 Eastbound & home or if anyone would like to stop at the Mulberry in Conwy for a drink let us know.

Si,

Did you know that as a resident of Llandudno you can get a free pass for the Orme.

Might be worth applying now, if you haven't already.

You might be alright. A colleague of mine likes rock climbing and often visits the Orme for a light workout. He lives in Llangollen and managed to get a pass.

Give it a try

I know these roads well - great driving roads when no caravans get in the way. Just watch out for the horsebox parked up by the road - North Wales Police still use the horsecam I believe..

Hopefully see you on the day

Abarth 500

Hi guys, Paul here from the Abarth forum, i met a few of you on our last Wales trip, i was in the white Abarth 500! (and yes we did get lost)

I have a recommendation for this trip, when in Porthmadog we could go a couple of miles west onto the beautiful Black rock sands beach, a huge drivable beach which also has a cave you can park in (makes a great photo!) I drive on this beach regularly, there's a 10 MPH speed limit, but if empty it may be possible to have a bit of fun if you don't mind sanding your paintwork a tad...

Now there could be a £3.00 charge per car to go on, in which case i would say not to bother, but it's a nice beach and i can't think of many more places big enough to park tens of cars in one single row! Great photo opportunity surely?

Anyway, just an idea!

Sounds like a plan that Paul. Nice one.

You'll regret that decision when Tony lets one rip under ground

what about another big run mid September time, before the weather turns?

Hi Guys

The meeting point in Llandudno is Mostyn Champneys Retail Park. In & Around Mcdonalds/Seldons Bowling alley/Halfords etc for anyone who hasn't been on that retail park before. (Not the one with Debenhams on, which is the new retail park next door)

Cheers

Hmmm, just realised it's Wakestock this weekend down at Abersoch, hope the traffic is not too bad...

Does anyone know if it is chaos on the weekend down there?

My brother went to wakestock yesterday, he went a day early to avoid traffic. It only took him 5 hours to get in!!! But hopefully, everyone will be there by then...

I have another idea! I've driven the back roads near Abersoch a number of times, they're great fun little roads, i usually go right to the tip of the peninsula and look down onto Bardsey island, its a stunning view!

Here's the new link, it adds an extra 35 miles or so onto the trip. And below is a picture of my car near the place in question! Although if we are going to drive on the beach at Portmadog too, we could be eating up the time...

I'm cool with that. We can follow Paul as he'll know where he's going.

Hopefully Wakestock shouldn't be too much of a problem. Fingers crossed. Besides if it is one of the lads I work with has gone to Wakestock for the entire 4 days it's on. Brave man. so if we do get stuck i'm sure he'll put us all up in his £10.49 asda tent, it has a porch aswell. And is better than the equivalent Tesco tent in the rain as it doesn't leak as much.
