Trip to Rhyl..few Alfa's
Was over from Dublin along with 600 other Bohemian fans for the UEFA Inter-Toto Cup game between Rhyl F.C. and Bohemians . Traveling to and from Speke Airport in Liverpool I spotted just 5 Alfa's, 4 147's and a 146. I could not believe how rare Alfa's are in North Wales. Spotted a 147 in car park of Speke Airport, another on the M56, a nice red one in Prestatyn and a similar red one in Rhyl. But heres the rub, when we parked up to go to the game a red 146 then pulled in beside us and it looked like a Rhyl F.C. player getting out.
For those of you with an interest in footie, Bohemians won 4-2 in Rhyl and 9-3 on aggregate, in fairness Rhyl are out of season while Irish Professional soccer is played through the summer.

Re: Trip to Rhyl..few Alfa's
Perhaps you were unlucky, in my little village alone there are 3 alfas including mine, and one that visits regularly. The next village along (tiny) has a beautiful red GT. So they're not that rare

You heard wrong, which is a pity....great rapport between the fantastic " Sunny" Rhyl fans who made us feel very welcome and the Bohemians fans who were over to Wales to enjoy themselves. I witnessed no trouble before, during or after the game. High spirits, singing and some drinking for sure, but no trouble. On the Alfa front I was surprised I saw no 156's which are very popular here in Dublin, glad to hear they do exist in North Wales.

TBH, most of you guys seemed alright, here to watch the. . . . . (what was being played ) but you do always get the minority that spoil it.
Out of curiosity, what did you think of rhyl?

Heard today that some Wrexham (i wont call them fans) hooligans traveled to Rhyl (?) too met up with some thugs from Dublin and there was some trouble in Rhyl Town Centre which the police quickly dealt with. I thought the people of Rhyl, ie the Rhyl F.C. fans were very welcoming, very passionate football fans and proud Welshmen. As for the town, well its in a great location beside the sea, mountains etc but it does need a revamp tbh.

Yeah I caught wind of some wrexham thugs too. Police were out in force, riot gear the lot.
As for the town, I like to describe it as a sh*thole The westend is a disgrace

Re: Trip to Rhyl..few Alfa's
As barry welsh put it "Rhyl makes you Ill"
I did some work up there to an old peoples retirement home, and it was awful, and there was a lot of dodgy people about, worse than when we work in the big inner cities
I don't believe that element are native to the place though

Re: Trip to Rhyl..few Alfa's
Hi Nordic
I was at the game covering it for the papers. I thought the Bohemians fans were great. Where I was sitting a few of them were trying to distract the Rhyl keeper John Gann with the chant of
'John Gann How's the rash' etc. I guess it worked as he let in 4 goals!
Was surprised to see the North Wales Stormtroopers Club outside the ground tho - Brunstroms finest I guess.

Not on foot surely
Oh their poor feet

I've since noticed a GTV almost identical to mine knocking around Prestatyn

Re: Trip to Rhyl..few Alfa's
There's loads of GTVs in Llandudno.
I pass an 02 Spider on my way to work (driver used to have a grey 166, I gave up giving the Alfa wave because no F****R responds around here, but thats another thread) - on my way to rhyl, he's coming from Rhuddlan direction.
There is also a GTV that I sometimes park next to when I use the Gym at Ysgol John Bright - I think its an Irish import (CZZ plate) anyone form here? Always looks good seeing both cars together when I'm peddlin' away on the cycle machine
