No idea but before you ship it, you had better check that it's legal to use a RHD car in Qatar (it's illegal here in the UAE).

I assumed that it was a RHD on the basis that it's coming from Oz (where, I believe, LHD cars are banned). The RHD ban here is a pain because I have a great XJ6 at home in the UK that I could ship out here for/ under £500 but I couldn't use it.

Hey there,

I shipped my 1968 1750 GTV from Cape Town, South Africa to Jebel Ali Port, Dubai in 2008. This is what it cost me all in. Hope this helps;

Shipping and handling (Rohlig Grindrod) - AED 8,000
Clearance Charges (local agent) - AED 3,500
Customs Duty - AED 2,500
Tasjeel and Registration Testing - AED 2,000

p.s. right hand drive is ok is the car is pre 1975, as classic cars are allowed to be right hand drive. This is the rule if your register the car through the Sharjah Classic Car Museum. The curator Mr. Al Jarwan is a gem of a guy, with lots of information and very helpful.

Cheers,

Stephen

That's really useful to know - I may now invest in an old classic. I may even bring my 1969 MGC out here

Thanks Stephan, I summed up the costs and converted into Australian dollar. it's roughly 4,367.71 AUD all together.
My car's not pre 1975's so it's really not an option for me.

Richard, It would be nice to see more classic cars on the road... i hardly see anything special nowadays on the road, so your MGC would be a welcome sight on Sheikh Zayed Road....
