tips for Alfa Romeo Spider S4 1992

I am thinking of getting a beautiful red Alfa Spider from 1992, US spec, automatic gear in the UAE.
Does anyone have any tips on what to think about before buying such a car: any special problems, availability and costs of spare parts, availability of good alfa mechanics in the UAE?

Hey Charolette,

Sound good to me :-) we love more alfa's on the UAE's roads, old and new.

Spares can be sourced either from Gargash (authorised dealer) or directly through places like EB Spares in the UK. We normally do group purchase to reduce the costs of shipping etc... either way, driving an Alfa will always mean you have to put that extra bit of effort and spend that extra bit of $ for the pleasure of something exclusive.

I wouldnt recommend the 92 Alfa as the only car however.

I am now out of town until 25th with very limited internet. I'll mail you when I get back.

Btw, I got your message on the UAE AROC site as well which unfortunately is no longer used as it was hacked by the turks a few times.

The Spider would not be my first car but a nice for fun car!

Hey Charlotte, I drive both of my S4's as daily drivers here. No problems, good little cars. Parts are quite easy to get, UK and US.
On both of mine I replaced the tires and had them aligned.
Regular oil changes, check the motor mounts, watch for leaks in the Mototronic system, just general maintenance and they give you years of responsive, pain free driving.

Hey Charlotte, our independent mechanic Hussein has one that he services constantly, i think its an S4 like the one you want. As Mossawi says, we group buy all our parts from EB Spares.. Kevin and Jason at EB are real gems. They sort us out on parts really fast and efficiently.

Let me know if you need any advice or want a second opinion on someone to look at the car. Mossawi or me can look at the car at your leisure and advise you...

The s4 is stunning..... and very rare in the UAE. If you are looking at the one that was on dubizzle in Abu Dhabi i think it's a Gargash imported one with a full sevice history and has been garaged for years, so it should have it's paint and body in really good condition...
