I can drive home in 20 minutes from shelsley walsh but a BBQ,beer and camping might well persuade me to stay overnight.
It'd be nice to get a restful night sleep withiut my daughter waking me at 4am telling me it's waking time too.

The Big One
21st August 2010 to Sunday 22nd August 2010
August Shelsley Walsh Event Almost Ready
The Big One is back and with the Alfa Romeo Owners Club Centenary Celebration!
The Big One is back at Shelsley Walsh on August 21st and 22nd. Not only is the World Famous Shelsley Walsh playing host to the quickest cars in British Speed Hill Climbing but the Midland Automobile Club is helping the Alfa Romeo Owners Club celebrate the centenary of the iconic Italian marque.
As well as two rounds of the Nicholson McLaren British Hill Climb Championship featuring 3-times champion Martin Groves and double and current Champion Scott Moran each pitting their winning skills against a quality field of competitors, the meeting will feature many classic Alfa Romeos.
Thanks to the Alfa enthusiasts including Alfa Romeo Owners Club Chairman Ed McDonough, there will not only be a host of classic Alfa Romeo cars on display but also a high-speed competitive class running in the meeting and a demonstration class that will run twice on each day.
The Alfa Romeo Owners Club will be running a Concours d'Elegance for the finest Alfa Romeos in the country and regional sections of the Club will have their own displays along with the clubs own hospitality unit. There will be hundreds of Alfas to drool over.
August at Shelsley Walsh since 1905 is the oldest motor sport event in the world still running and the Shelsley Walsh outright hill record is the oldest track record of them all. With the fastest cars in British Hill Climbing on show, this is the meeting at which the Shelsley Walsh outright record could be surpassed.
Current holder Martin Groves who has broken the record an incredible six times and set the current mark on 17th August 2008 must be in the frame. Or could the record be regained by reigning British Champion Moran, who held the record for four months in 2007. Also in the mix will be Trevor Willis who recently retained his outright hill record at Bouley Bay on Jersey when that record fell three times in one incredible top twelve run-off. It may be the most historic track record of them all but this proven trio of winners and others will be determined to be even quicker at the Big One!
The entry list also features a large 1600cc class of drivers in small motor cycle engined single seater racing cars. In 2009 two of these drivers finished in the top ten of the British Hill Climb Championship. Will Hall finished eighth and Eynon Price was tenth, both driving diminutive Force cars with highly tuned Suzuki engines and these hard chargers will be out to finish as high up the order as they can.
Also in the class will be the Scottish sensation Lee Adams. The former Karter from Peterhead recently eclipsed all of the unlimited capacity cars in two rounds of the British Sprint Championship at Kames in Scotland and took the outright record too. He is coming to Shelsley for only the third time but has the confidence to excel.
Multiple Scottish Hill Climb Championship winner Jonathan Rarity will be making his annual pilgrimage to Shelsley and despite only having 1400cc in his tiny MH Ghost he finished third in last years Championship finale at Doune. Bannockburn driver Wallace Menzies will also be at Shelsley in his shrieking wall-of-sound DJ Firestorm as the Scots travel south looking for glory at the oldest motor sport course in the world.
Other information:-
Admission prices - Saturday practice day Ł12. Sunday event day Ł15
Includes parking, transfer to paddock, and seated trackside enclosures.
Accompanied children under 16 GO FREE
Shelsley Walsh is AA signposted approximately 10 miles North West of Worcester.
Practice starts at 9:30 am on Saturday and the event starts at 9:30am on Sunday. Gates will open from around 8.00am in time for visitors to walk to their favourite spots on the hill. Finishing times cannot be given as these will depend on the conduct of the meeting but Saturday practice will probably conclude at around 5.00pm and the event should finish at around 6:00pm on Sunday.
Excellent catering and light refreshment/bar facilities are available in the new Stratstone restaurant in the courtyard off the paddock and elsewhere on the hill.
There are two shops selling a range of souvenirs, books, gifts and clothing.

There is something very very special about Shelsley. I work in motorsport and have been to most tracks and venues in UK and Europe. But Shelsley has something that none of the others have. It’s an amazing place with such brilliant atmosphere helped buy the location and the friendly open mature of all the competitors. The top 12run off cars are very fast up the hill and you can get very close to the action up the hill and in the paddock. Standing 10ft away from a 600bhp V8 Judd engine in a car leaving the start line is a ground shaking experience not to be missed.
This really is one not to be missed guys highly recommended and camping recommended also. The best place I could imagine to hold an Alfa meet.
Fantastic !!!!
Sorry as you can see I love the place and Alfa’s so I am happy as pig in sh.....it :-)

I think it's rubbish that animals aren't allowed in (never been a problem at any other Alfa events I've attended).
For that reason, I'm out!

I didn't know this either That's a shame. It would have ruled me out as well. Murphy goes everywhere! He is the Spider-Dog.

I';m guessing it's a local (i.e. Shelsley Walsh) rule, and not an AROC thing. And I'm sure someone would say "you wouldn't want a dog straying onto the track" - by the same rules you'd ban kids too.
and possibly some AO'ers

Are you 2 nuts or something. It a motorsport venue you have car doing 140mph 20ft away from the public on a track only about 2ft wider than the cars. What if a dog got on the track and caused a crash or hit a driver in the head at over 100mph. Maybe you should look on youtube see what would happen then edit you posts!!!! Bloody muppets good job you aint coming me thinks!!!!
