2.4 JTD 10v 200+bhp project...
Yes, it started life as a 140bhp.
Has a front mount intercooler and induction that is 'efficiant' - straight pipe. See tips on 2.4 JTD FMIC for more info.
I am very pleased with the re-map, but my biggest supprise was the power it ran before, as I had put on a map to make sure the boost pipes would hold pressure and not pop off.
Take a look...

Awesome A RD mad map.
You were pretty close with the initial tweak!
Pleased with it?? Are you going to upgrade the clutch?

Re: 2.4 JTD 10v 200+bhp project...
Wow, much improved torque curve, and you actually hit a higher peak power earlier in the rev range now, which is good for use-ability! Very impressive! How come you didn't run the test onwards though? Do you think you would have still topped 190bhp at 4,200rpm like on your pre-Red Dot map? Do you think with the current set up you could maintain 190+ bhp between 3,500 and 4,500 rpm? That would be a target and a half!
Clutch must be a necessity I would reckon Joe, that is a whole heap of torques (as Top Gear would put it )
I wonder if more power could be attained if you had started with a 20V? I think once you can pick one up for £4,000 that will be my next project, for the time being I will stick my V6 - I really miss the torque though!

Back on the road: Alfa 156 3.0 24v V6, Silver with red leather, Q2 diff, GTA Teledials, headlights & inlet manifold, AutoDelta carbon intake,
decat pipe and SuperSprint rear box, FK coilovers, Dastek Unichip - my 245bhp beast!
Gone but not forgotten: Alfa 156 2.4 JTD Veloce, Vela Blu, Angel 'mad map' & BMC CDA, Ferodo DS2500s - the fastest tractor in town!

I would of expected so. Ahh Pud you have no idea how desparately I want one of these 20v puppies to mess about with. It's astonishing! I amazed what you did with yours! and that's only the 10v!!!

Re: 2.4 JTD 10v 200+bhp project...
clutch is brand new.
On an earlier project we rang the stealers, who told up that the same clutch is used in the 140 up to the 200bhp model, therefore the 140 clutch is good for 200bhp - perhaps a little more?
311lb/ft is a lot of torque though, so we will see.
Even with the Q2 diff, it is impossible to get the torque down in moist/wet conditions.
The 20v is meant to be a much better car at revving, all the way to 5000rpm.
Augusto commented that the turbo is now the restriction for getting more torqu higher up the rev band, this would give it more power but would cause more lag low down, with the turbo needing 2250rpm to get on boost - quite a comprimise.
If the turbo does go, then I may look at one from a later 330d/530 or e320cdi, see what can be done.
Sadly the water meth injection dumped its hold on the floor earlier that day, we did cut and reconnect the pipe, but I don't know what if any was there in the engine, it would have been nice to have a run with and without it, but in all honesty - I'm not it it has a noticable power benifit - I will continue running it as I has a tank of the stuff and it does keep things cool.
Augusto did 3 runs with his map, but the printout was not from the longest revving map.
I am pleased with it.
Other than a couple of cosmetic bits, the car is where I want it...
...ready for Donnington track day(s) and nurburg ring!
and still a very usuable day to day 'sleeper' car.
Augusto commented that the 'hard work' / hardware side hard been done (the intake sorted & better place for the intercooler) to the thing could breath properly.
No Smoke either, which is really nice.
I don't think there is anywhere else to go now, as the transmission would start to fail, so maybe I'll get time to spend on my merc coupe and XJR jag instead.

Top marks for the hardware mods Jason, 202bhp is very very good for a true rolling road reading
I'd love to take the 3.2 round the ring, I'll have to see how mid-May falls with my final exams though..

Re: 2.4 JTD 10v 200+bhp project...
There will be a lot of work, as I am not good with making web pages...hopefully a friend of mine will do it for us.
Still thinking how to make the page...as I want everyone with tuned JTDs to have something like their own page for the car in question. So that he/she can say what modifications have been made to the car, who made them, pictures...dyno graphs and more.
Probably it will start coming to life in the end of January.
