Has anybody heard of the UK tuning firm DMS Automotive?

The UK tuning firm DMS Automotive claim to have an ECU remap for the 159 and Brera 3.2V6 Q4 that increases torque by 38nm and power by 22KW(29hp). Autodelta claim 33nm and 14hp.Dms Automotive has a franchise in Australia and they offer the upgrade.Has anyone used DMS Automotive UK here on the forum before.

They've had a few BMW's reviewed in EVO magazine. Sounds like they know what they're doing.

DMS map the BMW 335d from 282bhp to about 340bhp.. Quite a feat, as the engine is technically smaller, and diesel-powered, yet still produces more power than that 3.2 straight 6 in the E36 M3 Evo..

If thats what ten years progress makes I don't know what things'll be like in another ten years.

Re: Has anybody heard of the UK tuning firm DMS Automotive?

DMS have been in the ECU remapping game for quite some time & having owned a number of M3's it was always interesting to read EVO magazines features on tuned cars. They do many BMW's, Porsches, Ferrari's, AMG Mercs etc & have a good reputation.
I know of someone ( A Greek-South African dentist that moved to the UK) who had them map his 156GTA. DMS claimed 276bhp. I can't substantiate the claim but this friend is no BS man & he was impressed with the cars performance improvement.

On a personal note, having had M3's remapped, I don't beleive those sort of numbers. The Turbo-Diesels & Turbo cars get good gains from remaps but this usually boils down to the simple increase of boost pressure & what that does to turbocharger & component life without upgrading certain parts is anyones guess.
I reckon that the best guy's in the UK, Europe as a whole to upgrade new Alfas is Autodelta & the gains that they claim are more in touch with reality.

I think that 10-15hp at the flywheel from a remap of the V6 is the attainable figure, keeping things reliable as well.
More power could possibly be obtained with programmes that give radically advanced timing but in my experience you will experience detonation & shorten the engines life.

However, having a chat to DMS wouldn't hurt & being given a demonstartion in a 159/Brera V6 that's been converted so that you can compare would then enable you to make the right choice.

Good luck!!!!

Thanks for the advice Monstro,I don't want to blow the engine up.Anyway the car feels so good with the new "cats" I am frightened to touch anything else in case it makes the car worse.

There is no way that engine can produce another 29 bhp by advance and extra fuelling, smoke and mirrors Sir, although DMS are usually reputable.

Autodelta's figures are fairly reliable in this instance.

Re: Has anybody heard of the UK tuning firm DMS Automotive?

CJ, agreed.

I have mentioned that AD's figures are closer to reality. DMS made similar claims for M3's. Saw their agent in SA during 2004 & he reprogrammed my M3CSL at the time.
Gave me some fancy figures but I took my car to a reputable dyno where I had base line readings.Admitadely the car felt livelier & smoother, good throttle response, the gain at the wheels was 7kW or 10hp, so say 12-14 at the fly.
DIMSPORT agents in SA(Italian ECU tuners)did ECU's for Glenwood Motors & before going wild on my GTA, I had the dealer organise an ECU tune when the car was new.It made 8hp more at the wheels than standard. It felt very good though, with great throttle response & improved torque.
I call them drivability chips rather than power chips. Throttle response is improved & usually some smoothing out of any drop off's in the power curve are achieved but 29hp, NO!!!Only on turbo diesels & forced induction petrol units.
Whats good with the AD set up is that they up the limiter in 1st gear which really improves the 0-100km/h time & they gain some good numbers in the mid range.Very worthwhile mod.

Ciao

I have seen the power graph that autodelta quotes and i must say it looks impressive especially the torque curve which is really nice for a standard N/A engine. if i had a 159 i would go for one.
