Performance induction kit on a JTD?

Considering removing the airfilter/housing from my GT and adding an induction kit.

The one i have been given is a BMC kit, which i believe does not need oiling so will not foul the MAF.

Will i notice any increase in power on the 1.9JTD? Or more importantly will power decrease?

Anyone changed theres and would like to comment?

Thanks Andy

You'll notice a bit. More than you would with a NA car with it fitted.

Personally I'd keep it standard.

Re: Performance induction kit on a JTD?

I have the BMC-CDA 70-150 on my JTD 8v....you will notice much faster response from the turbo and the car being able to breathe more easily in the higher revs...after 4000rpm.

In a few words the BMC will decrease the turbo lag at low rpm and will help at higher rpm.

A good thing that will explore the BMC will be a remap.

If you haven't done it yet, try contacting celtictuning.co.uk or angeltuning.co.uk as both companies are very good with Alfa's JTD engines.

Re: Performance induction kit on a JTD?

i spoke to angel about this they said that having both is not something they would do because the torque increase would be detrimental performance, their upgrades are to what they see as being the most it can take as standard, of course if you got extras on top of it, Q2 etc maybe the story is different.

all i know for my 1.9 JTD 16v(04) i asked for a quote for the lot, (suspension, chip, induction kit, zaust) and he said don't really need the induction with the chip, as standard does the trick.

I don't quite understand what you mean? Having both?

Nige from Angel fitted the BMC CDA on my 2.4 JTD personally. Maybe the induction set up on the 1.9 is more than adequate for the fuelling increase necessitated by the remap?

Re: Performance induction kit on a JTD?

You might end up with 1-2bhp extra and slightly better throttle response.

You say you were given it? Should be worth fitting it if it was free. Personally, £180 for 1-2bhp just isn't worth it

Re: Performance induction kit on a JTD?

Fitted it yesterday, have noticed a slightly better throttle responce when the turbo comes in. So pretty pleased with it!
