156 exhausts?
what types of exhaust are available for the 156?
i have seen a few backboxes, but not many centre pipes.
im really after either a silenced decat or sports cat, with stainless centre pipe and backbox. back box should ideally be oval in tailpipe, and the whole system shouldnt be loud and raspy, should be deep and boomy, or as boomy as poss with a 2.0 TS, euro II engine.

Re: 156 exhausts?
There are Cybox stainless systems on ebay for £240 for a cat back system. They also sell decats.
Not sure how they sound though,
Simon.

Cheapest place I know is Ebspares. www.ebspares.co.uk
For under £200, they are a bargain.

I have this backbox and I love it. Not too loud. Just a nice deep grumble.
I'm not so sure on the Decat scenarios. David C will probably know best.

Re: 156 exhausts?
Picking up on an earlier comment regarding Cybox, I think these guys also do a full de-cat pipe (about £50 plus P&P) and a silenced one which is about £80 plus p&p. Thinking of this combination myself, but would be interested to hear from anyone who has this re noise levels.

Fitted a cybox to my 156, had to spend £££'s to get it to fit and £££'s to fit an extra silencer because it sounded so loud and chavvy!
so beware!

I might give those a miss then.. They do look good value for a stainless system though.
Did you keep the cat or have a decat? I am keeping the cat (For now at least).

Re: 156 exhausts?
I kept the cat, i will say though in Cybox's defence that they appear to have a lot of satisfied customers, the quality of stainless steel appears to be good, my problems were the fit - i may have been sent the wrong exhaust, but the noise was my biggest problem - it was far too loud for what i wanted, which is why i spent the money making it quieter, I went for this exhaust as i needed to replace my original rusting version - cost wise it wasnt too bad.

Re: 156 exhausts?
I want my car to be quite loud, but not so loud that the neighbours complain in the mornings whan I leave for work..
I think I will take a chance, I am pretty sure it will be ok if the cat is left on.

Re: 156 exhausts?
Years ago I had a 5.0litre mk2 mustang, it had straight through pipes and a cherry bomb fitted, it used to set car alarms of when driving down back streets (in those days they were usually 'harry moss' alarms- dates me I know), anyway, when I sold the car all my neighbours comlpained, most of the street used my 6am start up and drive as their early morning alarm call
theres just no pleasing some folk.

Re: 156 exhausts?
right, won £245 on a bet on the england game, so treating the car to an exhaust. CSC backbox, just waiting on a shipping quote before i buy, cybox silenced decat pipe, £97ish, standard new centre pipe £26 delivered, and might get a front pipe soon too and fit the lot together.

Re: 156 exhausts?
yeah i saw that, but you mentioned it would look daft without the extension, and my bumper is standard for now.
purchases made, and i already have the decat.
