New boost gauge ordered...
My current Speedparts boost gauge (taken from my old Saab) goes from -1 to +1.5 Bar; The problem is that my 156 being a diesel doesn't go below 0 Bar, and it tops out at 1.9 Bar since the remap! So I ordered a new Racetech gauge today, which again starts at -1 Bar (really hard to get a 0 Bar one), but this time goes to 2.5 Bar. Demon Tweks are the supplier of choice this time.
The take-off & electrics are in already for the existing gauge, so this will literally be a gauge swap-over.
I'll keep you posted!

Nope... got a black-faced Racetech one to sit in my dash pod - well, it will be marginally more in keeping than the white Speedparts one that''s in there at the moment. I'll post pics & soon as the postie delivers the kit!

Re: New boost gauge ordered...
A nice simple and clean install for a single gauge.
And my answer for 2 gauges

Re: New boost gauge ordered...
not illuminated here, but when it is it looks as good as a factory fit as possible - orange on black.
You did well to get a gauge that reads up to 2.5bar.

I thought so - I just came across it by accident when looking for some other stuff (found it on a Seat Ibiza forum)!!!

Re: New boost gauge ordered...
Thanks for the pictures chaps.
I fitted 3 racetech gauges to my 33 (using the airvents in the centre) which looks good.
Pasc/Jason, when you used the exising 3 gauge housing to fit the boost gauge how did you break the standard instruments up (aren't they 3 gauges in 1 mount). Also Pasc, for your 2 gauge soloution what was there befroe, and how did you manufacture the mount?
Thanks

Re: New boost gauge ordered...
gary, the ashtray is there normally and I didnt have any need for it
The mount was made from a thin piece of metal bent into approximate shape and then finished with a thick plastic front and layers of fibreglass

Re: New boost gauge ordered...
Its a very good match - weren't you tempted to put white faced dials in though?

Re: New boost gauge ordered...
the analogue clock removed from the back, you need to cut a little plastic away to fit the new boost gauge, best is to dismantle the boost gauge so it has no plastic face of its own, offer it up then I used car boddy filler on the back to hold/mount it - cant see that when its all fitted back!
You are left with a small hole from the analogue clock, I used this for an LED which illuminates when the water injection kicks in at a preset boost level.

Re: New boost gauge ordered...
Well the boost gauge arrived on Monday, and looks nice - except it was a screw-on connector on the back, an NPD type screw on job, not a push-on-the-tube type of connector. So another order for a boost gauge fitting kit which arrived yesterday & I'm good to go.
So I drilled & tapped the engine inlet last night (just ahead of the intercooler-to-engine hose) and put the take-off nipple there. I replaced the top boost anyhow, as the old one had split twice on me, and was bodge repaired already.
I connected it to to my existing boost hose, and that's as far as I got last night (my Speedparts gauge is still installed, so that's reading off the scale again today).
Stage 2 tonight - connecting the new Racetech gauge in the cabin, including wiring it up. Fun Fun Fun!

Here's a couple of picks of the gauges in my 147 if you're interested.
White illumination during the day and red with lights on to match the dash, plus they go off completely when the ignition is off.

Re: New boost gauge ordered...
I know, pictures to follow, but it looks like crap compared to the 147 pictures above... even looks bad compared to the Speedparts kit... I'm not too impressed - but it does read 1.9 Bar, so guess it's accurate...

This looks the Dogs Danglies.
Is the silver triple pod fabricated?
What make are the gauges?
Tell us more...
BTW, if you find the illumination a little bright, fit a 1k potentiomiter in line (about £1.50 from maplins) basically a variable resistor and this will allow you to adjust manually the brightness.
(just showing my 6 year old lad how the faces work!)

Thanks for all the nice comments.
I'm a precision engineer and made the triple holder myself from a solid piece of aluminium. The gauges are made by Autogauge which I got from GAUGEPLACE.COM - Welcome
The gauges are fitted into the holder at an angle so they tilt slightly upwards and too the right, towards the driver. The holder was also painted to match the rest of the dash, the colour was a Vauxhall one but can't remember exactly which one at the moment but I could find out if you're interested.
