What one have you got Dan???
Well yeah, a remapped 20V will be running around 225bhp. Of the ten valve engines I'm running the earlier 136bhp model (there were 3 10v's - a 136, a 140 and a 150), and with my current remap between 190-200bhp. Probably would be 200 if the engine didn't have 120K on the clock, but I reckon a few of the 'factory' horses might have bolted long ago

As for beating a V6, maybe round town, 1st and 2nd gears, but get the V6 in third and fourth on a long stretch and it should still beat a similar powered and weight diesel. Petrol cars tend to have a better top-end, but the torque on a diesel really helps the power through the midrange.

Alfa 156 3.0 24v V6, Silver, red leather, Q2 diff, GTA Teledials, headlights & inlet manifold, AutoDelta carbon intake, BMC CDA, decat pipe and SuperSprint rear box, Eibach Pro springs & Koni FSDs (Front), FK coilovers (Rear), Dastek Unichip - my 245bhp beast!

Gone but not forgotten: Alfa 156 2.4 JTD Veloce, Angel 'mad map' & BMC CDA, Ferodo DS2500s - the fastest tractor in town!

2002 GTV T.Spark

Re: I want my Alfa to be faster!!!

A friend of mine has a 2.0 Honda typeS, and he was amazed at how easily i pulled away from him when playing silly buggers on a slip road onto the M4.The T.Spark is an old engine and not as powerfull as newer 2.0L,engines, but the Alfa engine seems to rev more freely and produce more torque lower down than the V-tec engined Honda's.Also the Alfa engine loves to be reved where as the Honda engine NEEDS to be reved to get anything out of it.I am not a fan of Honda engine's, they are good infact very good but i don't like them. The only mod's i have had done is a re-map K&N filter and Alfaholics exhaust. The Alfa V6 engine is stunning the looks the sound the performance is pure classic, and i would love to have one only i love the T.spark on the twisty bits and cant afford the running costs of the V6.Also have done to much work on mine to change now.So my advice is to get a re-map and a nice stainless sport exhaust and enjoy the sound and feeling of being in an Alfa.

Re: I want my Alfa to be faster!!!

I agree with you about the Honda engines - if they are off cam they aren't good - a great track engine but not a great road engine.

You need to bear in mind how much any modifcations will effect your insurance too...

GTV 3.0 v6

Re: I want my Alfa to be faster!!!

To be honest I keep it standard as the chassis probably can't handle much more power (the v6 Spider apparently suffers from pretty serious scuttle shake).

If you want faster get another Alfa.. one of the v6s or a JTD.

Re: I want my Alfa to be faster!!!

I have been looking for a red Spider 3 v6 and I can't find one anywhere! Does anyone know a good place for me to look?

Thanks a lot for the tips. Def going to have a look at the Coupe engine!

I was worried about the chasis not being able to handle it. I know that when the v6 came out and people where taking it for test drives Alfa where taking air out of the tyres and apparently cutting a few corners on the v6 to make it a smoother ride! God knows what would happen if I literally just swapped the engine on mine for a v6!

AJ on alfa145.com has slapped the fiat lump in an alfa 145 cloverleaf...the same TS unit that you have

Tiz on the road recently
