1600bar fuel pump 2.4JTD & uprated injectors help.

Can anyone offer some guidance on higher pressure fuel pump and larger injectors for 140bhp 2.4JTD?

What injectors are a good upgrade?

Can the existing fuel pump be modded for higher pressure or is it a replacement?

For a project which will include FMIC, water/meth injection, modded intake etc.

I've heard of people using the injectors from a 159 20V if that helps..

cheers Pud, are all the 20v injectors the same or are they different for the 175/200bhp.
Anyone know?

I don't have a clue tbh, I've read it on here though I'm sure, but can't manage to find the thread with the search function.

I'm sure the 175 has different injectors to the 136/140/150, but I'm not sure if they're the same as the injectors in the 159 20v.

I can check that one as soon as my ePer starts working again.

BTW I am not sure, but with the new injectors you might end up needing a new ECU.

And you are also looking for another fuel pump.

maybe it will be cheaper to get the 175hp 20v version from a smashed car and install it into yours.

Re: 1600bar fuel pump 2.4JTD & uprated injectors help.

Thanks alfisti,

I read in another post that increasing the fuel pump pressure from the standard (1350bar?) to 1600bar will give a good increase in performance - better atomisation of fuel.

I know the latest diesels are running 2000bar.

What I am grying to acheive is gains beyond merely chipping, the machanical mods side.

Any information would be good. Even if 'Is it worth it?'

That is actually a very good question, what is your goal....300bhp 600NM or 150bhp, 200NM or...?

I am realisted in what:
FMIC
Water/Meth injection
Decent chip tuning
can do, I would expect 185-195bhp from this. (conservative estimate?)

If it turns out more, that would be a bonus. (I am not into claims of 200bhp on your driveway unless someone can give me a rolling road printout to prove it)

But with fuel pressure and injecters, it would be nice to squeeze some more...

Re: 1600bar fuel pump 2.4JTD & uprated injectors help.

With the water/Meth injection I think you will be looking more at 200+bhp...and around 450NM.

There are couple of things you should do:

1.Install an OIL TEMP gauge (there is an excellent guide made by Gotcha on my FTP server...if you want I can send you the link)

2.Install an OIL COOLER...meaning you need to get a sandwich plate with thermostatic control and oil radiator. This is very important!!!

3. I don't remember if you have already removed all catalytic converters from your car, and complete that with free-flow back box. That is also very important. You are going for high boost levels, you don't want to create back pressure.

4. You can get someone to do custom tubes for your turbo pipes and connect them with Samco products. The factory ones wont last long.

5. The intercooler intake is made out of plastic, you should also make them from steel/aluminum...or they might explode. You are talking of larger then 1.5BAR boost.

6. YOu need for sure a custom remap for your car after you finish installing everything. You are using red dot, ask them if they can handle the work. I think I suggested to you celtictuning as they have experience with FMIC on 156 and some other extras.

Take care

Petko
