Re: 2.2JTS Remap

Supersprint sell a new cat for it but I have heard that the original cat is very efficient.

Re: 2.2JTS Remap

The existing systems are very good on the alfas, no doubt about that. They are normally only held back by government regulations.

Brera 2.2JTS

Re: 2.2JTS Remap

So I took a little trip over to Autodelta today
and Jano was kind enough to breathed a little
more heart 'n' soul into the Brera. (For a fee. )

Initial impressions: Uhhh is this my car?
The smoothness around town is instantly apparent.
From a standing start you can go easy or push
as hard as you like with no hesitation. Very nice.

On the open road, well, the M4 wasn't the best
of tests, but there seems to be a better response
when booting it off 5th and 6th.

Was it a cheap option? No, but good engineering
isn't cheap, is it? After one (short) day, I'm already
chuffed with it though.

I'll wait for the trip down through France on Saturday
to give a full review.

Cheers Jano.

(Oh and that supercharged Spider looks the business. )

Re: 2.2JTS Remap

Any update for us Nev? Now that I have the 2.2 Ti, I'm interested as long as it's undetectable by the dealers with examiner!

Re: 2.2JTS Remap

So far so good.

Main noticeable difference is in-town driving:
Less use of the clutch at low revs in 1st gear.
Pulls smoothly away no issues with hesitant
starts.

The upped rev limit means it's great fun to scream
out of the starting gate toll both in
1st on the auto routes.

Less changing down from 6th after slowing down
as well.

My "hill climb stage" on the way to work can now be
tackled in 3rd without the need to drop into 2nd
for a couple of bends.

Fuel economy: average 25mpg (computer) on the
way up to England and 28mpg on the way back
with similar load and speeds. (As witnesses by
my two incidents with a couple of mobile radar units. )

It's put a fresh breath into a (nearly) two year old
car.

It's booked in for the 30K km service on the 28th
so we'll see what Alfa say then.

Apparently a Remap will show up as fault codes on examiner... I was told "Just tell us so we know"

Re: 2.2JTS Remap

IIRC Nev is very happy with his choice of Brera and stated so many time here on AO !!

Prices for his particular choice remap can be obtained from Autodelta so why not give them a call yourself

MPG was never an issue for me.

The main improvement I was looking for was
driving in traffic and pulling away from standstill.
The Autodelta 'map delivers this.
Everything else is a bonus.

It's not a cheap option, but I weighed up this cost
against waiting and chopping it in for a JTB Brera next year(?)

When I bought the car I was going to get a low spec V6
but was talked out of it by the dealer.

(Dirty stinking) diesel just isn't an option. Otherwise I'd buy a
Massey-Ferguson.
My annual mileage is quite low and I get a car allowance and
business fuel. (Which is why I never use 95 petrol either. )

I think remaps only give error codes if they've not
been re-checksummed.

Just checking Joe

I was actually asked by the techie if I 'was going to see Nigel about a remap' and when I mentioned warranty issues he said what he did !!

From Angel Tuning:

There is no change needed to any hardware for engine remapping and in the main is both physically and diagnostically undetectable.

So it could in theory be detected I read that as

From Red Dot: http://www.reddotracing.co.uk/reddot.asp

Quote:

There is no change needed to any hardware for engine remapping. Therefore there should be no affect on your warranty. We have had an example where a customer had lowered his suspension and bottomed out causing his sump to crack. Within ¼ of a mile he had run the engine dry and destroyed the turbo too. The engine was completely replaced under warranty despite the fact that he had lowered the suspension too.

You mean the even heavier JTDm with the
huge lump of pig iron at the front?

Re: 2.2JTS Remap

See, I am not all that sure. If you over do it with a map and cause the engine to blow?! (Heaven forbid) Then surely it wouldn't be replaced on warranty?
