Just fitted a Sony head unit in the 147 and now for the questions -

1. when i switch the car off CD player wipes itself (time, radio stations.....) how do i get the CD Player to power off with the car but keep these settings?

2. Is there any way to get the display back on the under the speedo?

I dont know much about audio nevermind car audio so any help would be helpful!!!

powerwires are mixed up. probably not entirely your fault, cos alfa do not follow the 'standard' ISO wiring pattern.

basically, there are 2 powerwires:
1. +12V 'constant' powerwire: this provides power all the time, and serves to a) retain 'memory' of radio settings, etc b) provide main power supply to work the headunit
2. +12V 'switched' powerwire: this merely triggers the headunit on/off when you turn the key from 'off' to 'on' (in other cars, you would call it an 'ACC' wire but alfa's don't have an ACC key position)

so, swap those wires around. best to use a multimeter to check the voltages and their function so you are 100% which wires are which (ie: the 'constant' wire will show 12V regardless of key position; 'switched' wire will be 0V when key is off, and 12V when key is on).

if you are unsure, pay a pro-installer to fix it.

there are wiring diagrams posted in other threads. a 'search' might find them.

2. Is there any way to get the display back on the under the speedo?
not likely. the MFD (multifunction display) data is compatible with blaupunkt headunits that have the data output, but not with other brands that i know of. it's not an issue with the sony, but with the alfa MFD, not being able to interpret the data to display.

and i don't think there's an adaptor. you could check with Connects2 though.

green? on what side of the plug: in the alfa plug, or from the sony?

do you have a multimeter?

i don't know what that wire if off the top of my head, sorry.

the multimeter should help you sort it out though. and if the headunit works properly, then it won't be essential.

Re: After Market CD Player Q's

Cheers for the help, got the two power cables swopped and is now working.

Seems like the cables with the green conection may be for the display, but that is just a guess.
