Re: Anyone remapped a 156 2.0 TS?

Well it turns out that replacing the air filter / induction kit etc can blow the MAF and I don't wanna risk that, so it looks as though the next job on the list will be the remap.

Re: Anyone remapped a 156 2.0 TS?

Right, just got off the phone to Red.Dot, bloke called Ron, was nice enough but I find it hard to believe his BHP gain numbers,

Apparently it costs £200 (Or somewhere around that figure!), he couldn't give me an exact quote as the bloke who deals with Alfa remaps is away on a course, fair enough. But he said the price should be on this website somewhere???? If it is, I'm yet to find it anywhere, apart from being told by fellow members anyway.

He claimed a BHP gain of 25-30BHP and a gain of around 20ft lb of torque!!! Hmm, did he make that up as he went along?

He did say though that they do a before and after of your actual BHP so I don't believe he's trying to hide anything.

Can anyone confirm whether or not you do actually get an increase of 30BHP? As that sounds way too good to be true.

The proud new owner of a '97 GTV 2.0 TS Lusso,

No chance. Ron does all the brakes. He knows FA about mapping.

Seriously dude. Speak to Augusto. He should be back next week.

Joe

You will get a gain of 17BHP maximum.

That's what I though, 30BHP would be expecting a tad too much,

Is it possible to add a performance exhaust AFTER a remap? Or is that a really bad idea?

You can mate. It will just make it even better. It is recommended to do that before the map though as you can tweak it a bit more.

A 20lbft gain on peak torque sounds feasible, 25-30bhp from a remap alone is not feasible. But like OA says you weren't talking to the right guy. Augusto knows his stuff when it comes to remapping.

However, it would be entirely possible for you to get an easy 30bhp, if you think the car would benefit enough from it to be worth the money, and of course you'd have to be happy to foot the bills.

To get 30bhp you'd need to put on full sports exhaust including manifold and decat, the free-est flowing air filter you could find & only then get it remapped, including optimizing the timing for high octane fuel, and increasing the red-line to 7,500rpm.. There you go, you could be sure to have at least 180, maybe even 190bhp after all that. Marko on here got his 2.0 twinny to about 210bhp but I'm positive he got a lot of the internals changed over for racing parts after his cambelt snapped and it needed a rebuild, so the engine could withstand operating over 7,000rpm for long periods of time..

But if you did do this, you would shift peak torque further up the curve, it'd be even more peaky than a T.S. is already and it'd be no better below 3,000rpm than it is at the moment, if anything it'd be worse. But it certainly would be a fun car, and you'd start to give VTECs a run for their money

Back on the road: Alfa 156 3.0 24v V6, Silver with red leather, Q2 diff, 17" GTA Teledials, headlights & inlet manifold, AutoDelta carbon intake,
SuperSprint exhaust, Dastek Unichip & FK coilovers - my 245bhp beast!

Gone but not forgotten: Alfa 156 2.4 JTD Veloce, Vela Blu, Angel 'mad map' & BMC CDA, Ferodo DS2500s - the fastest tractor in town!
