Alfa Romeo Forum - Aoclub
£25 if you want to get all the stickers and discounts. My MPG went up by about 2
The remap is the best thing I have done to the car. I couldn't live without it!

You'll get it for £200. They are already the cheapest in the country..

Re: Anyone remapped a 156 2.0 TS?
It's only so noticeable as it irons out the low end flat spot. It makes the car far more driveable. And if, like me, you like to drive fast now and then,.. it works wonders.

Re: Anyone remapped a 156 2.0 TS?
Website / phone number for Red Dot please? I'm thinking about a re-map as well. Having more torque below 3000rpm sounds good

It can be if thats what you specify.. Peak power increase and low-end torque increase is always a compromise. You can get a little bit of both or a lot of one or the other. The best thing about a petrol engine is top end power, if I was to get a petrol remap I'd want it for maximum power..

Re: Anyone remapped a 156 2.0 TS?
I admit it, sometimes I'll be driving the V6 and it feels slow, well not slow, but not as fast as I need it to be. Its really quite bad!
I never seemed to feel like that in the JTD, cause it had so much grunt you never really had to rev it to go fast, so it never felt like you were going 100% and finding it lacking. Whereas in the V6, you know your going full pelt and sometimes it feels like it could just do with a bit more poke..

Re: Anyone remapped a 156 2.0 TS?
It'd be mental to try and put considerably more power through the front wheels, and far too much work and expense. I've been looking at other cars a lot this last two weeks, a Porsche 944 Turbo and two BMW 540i (4.4 V8) with the rare 6-speed manual 'box.. One of the beemer's sold for £1800!!

Re: Anyone remapped a 156 2.0 TS?
I'm sure a stock remap that's done by a mobile tuner is fine. It's always good to see what the car is producing before the map though. I have seen one case where this showed that the car was 30BHP down on what it should of had

Angel's map I certainly have no complaints about, it is truely awesome and makes the car feel so grunty. Ive not driven anything that gives you such a shove in the back as the JTD does. The only complaint I have was it doesn't have as much power as I was told it has, by about 20-25 brake..
I'm still a good +40bhp up from standard though, maybe +45.. A rolling road before and after would be preferential, if you can trust it to be set up so as not to show you have gained more power than you really have..

Wasn't an early 2.0 JTS by any chance was it? I've seen a thread where one of them was rolling roaded at 105bhp (60bhp down!! )

Back on the road: Alfa 156 3.0 24v V6, Silver with red leather, Q2 diff, 17" GTA Teledials, headlights & inlet manifold, AutoDelta carbon intake,
SuperSprint exhaust, Dastek Unichip & FK coilovers - my 245bhp beast!
Gone but not forgotten: Alfa 156 2.4 JTD Veloce, Vela Blu, Angel 'mad map' & BMC CDA, Ferodo DS2500s - the fastest tractor in town!

Re: Anyone remapped a 156 2.0 TS?
Yup, there is a problem with a lot of the early 2.0 JTS. Many of them have about 30BHP down.

Re: Anyone remapped a 156 2.0 TS?
In regards to being down on BHP, is this common with petrol cars such as mine? Or are the Twinnies usually alright at remaining within its given BHP range and not losing all its horses?

It was only a problem with early 2.0 JTS engines being REALLY low down on power.
In a modern petrol engine, properly serviced and in good health, you might expect a loss of 5% over the full life of the engine. There's a bigger variance between the cars upon leaving the factory!

Re: Anyone remapped a 156 2.0 TS?
My 1.8 clocked in 139.2 BHP when I got it. It was stated in the manual as being 140BHP. That was superb!
Most cars can be anything between 2-8 BHP out. It all depends on mileage and how well the engine has been maintained.
