6sp. gearbox into 147 jtd 8v

KGB: Did you already install 6sp gearbox in your Bella?

Has anybody tried longer 5th gear from Autodelta?

Still waiting for the old clutch to go...

But I think that soon...in the end of next month I will change it...and will install then the 6 speeder.

So 6 speed gearbox can be fitted to 1,9 JTD 8v for sure? Do you have to change also the flywheel? That's why I'm asking for the longer 5th gear from Autodelta, if maybe that can be a sollution so you don't have to change gearbox.

Why would you want a longer fifth gear on the JTD 8v? For more top-speed or for more fuel economy?

Seems easier than replacing 5 speed gear box with 6 speed, when you tune the engine with remap. And with remap you reach limiter too soon

You can reach the limiter in 5th?

At what speed is that?

Limiter was a bit of a joke, but truthfully longer 5th gear would help keeping revs litlle lower (in my oppinion), and of course that would help fuel economy.

You are right of course, is something I thought about doing in my 3.0 V6, which does 3,000rpm in 6th at 70mph!

But, having looked at the possible fuel savings (2-4mpg maybe?), compared to the cost of doing the swap, it would take years to even break even!

But, I can see the reason behind fitting the closer ratio 6-speed box. That would be a good performance mod, a longer 5th gear is just money saving in the long-run, compared to a big outlay now. It would be easier to put on bigger tyres next time they needed replacing..

Hopefully Monday I will finally change my gearbox....will keep you informed.

Together with new Brake pads...EBC red stuff at the front, green at the rear....oil cooler if time permits....then a new remap :-)

The gear box upgrade I was thinking, of is a smaller ratio of the bridge. That would be more powerfull all the way through each gear,keeping the same top speed with the sixth gear.

Monday we will see....Now I am looking at clutches....maybe I will fit the one from 2.4jtd (the stronger one of the two, which Valeo offers for the 2.4...ar that is at least what they say).
