I've added 3,000 miles since it was done including a trip through Switzerland/Italy/France and she didn't miss a beat - only concern I've got is I've just had a BMW730d as a courtesy car while Bella has been in following her attempted rape by a Transit Van and the BMW engine is just like a turbine by comparison so will be interested in how
Bella feels when i get her back.

I'd thoroughly recommend the remap (& Red Dot) to anyone and I was probably a cynic having lived through trying to tune Yamaha 2 strokes in the 80's/90's and seeing what that could do to engines. For this reason alone it was worth it to me to have a copy of the rolling road before/after print.
Dpat, you know what to do

Re: Remapped Spider 2.4JTDm - now the fun begins

A question about remapping. Can someone explain what this is the process. I am not in the UK and would need to chase someone down in France to do this or can it be done by ones' self presuming that this is all about software and a cable that plugs into the dash. And once done, what happens if you take it in for a service and they hit the reload button.

I'm sure someone can come up with a more technical explanation but it involves a cable and a PC. Suspect that with the right software & cable it could be a DIY job BUT Red Dot offered the added benefit that the map was tailored to the car after a rolling road test.

Surely there are companies in France that do it - I can't imagine that all the diesels are left standard. Where abouts are you ?

With regard to the servicing issue just tell the dealer when you take it in and they'll avoid messing with the settings - if the worst comes to the worst then Red Dot keep the map and will reload FOC.

Thanks for reply. I am just on the south Fringe of Paris. City of Antony.
I am curious though, how would one get their hands on the cable and software?

Hi VBK, I don't think it's a good idea to do it yourself, the change all sorts of things like fueling, throttle response etc and it's best to get someone experienced to do it or you could make a mess of the engine...

I think they use an ordinary computer with some kind of program to write firmware for the ECU.

There should be some tuning places near Paris who can do it for you.

Speaking to a passing DERV Brera owner once, he did say he'd had
his done in locally.

Maybe pick up a French "tuning" magazine and check for ads in the back?

Remember it's basically "illegal" to performance mod cars in France.

Thanks for the advise. Will talk to various tuning mechanics before I decide to do anything silly. And keep up with the law..

I just had the remap at 6000 miles.240 at the fly wheel and 350 ft lb torgue. You have to change your driving style as it's soooo !!! fast.3rd and 4th are awesome but those stupid hazard lights keep flashing now, I will have to find a way to diconnect them.
