wanted: Alfa specialist in the cardiff area

I need to know where to take my 156 for all its needs in the cardiff area, somewhere where they don't walk out wearing cowboy boots and spurs, rubbing there hands together because you drive an Alfa.

I have used Alfa-Yapps before. Prices were competitive (vs main dealer) and they must be good as their books are always a week to ten days full. In fact I thought they were very good on my sw veloce.

It's probably too late now, but my tuppence worth is-

I used ***** & Yapps a few times & TBH if I lived in Cardiff, I'd come to Duncan at Alfanet Services over here in Bristol.

Actually, if I lived in Llanishen, I would drive the 30-odd miles to Bristol & pay the bridge toll, to use a competent specialist.

Had them do some accident repair & though it came back nicely painted, the gap at the top of the door was twice as wide as when I took it in.

when I bought the car from them I was told there was a full service history, whch they then refused to give me. The first night I had the car it over heated, because they had removed the rad fan fuse.

Having narrowly avoided an oncoming bus because they'd left a screwdriver under my seat after some work which wedged itself under my brake pedal, I took the screwdriver back. Upon politely recounting what had happened I got a blank look & ignored.

When I had them fix the internal fan speed control it apparently took them a half day to get the unit out - something I've since been able to do & replace inside of a 40 minute lunch break.

They did phone me up to suggest the car needed a service, but when I asked whether it would be a major or minor service they had no idea, nor did they have any idea what the last service was.

Why did I use them? because I didn't know of any other specialists at the time - more fool me.

For me, now I'll stick with a specialist who's competent to service Ferraris & Maseratis rather than a garage that can't spell Alfa right.

On the postive side, I have heard good things about L&M motors, can't remember where exactly they are though - somewhere between Cardiff & Newport.

My days of not taking you seriously are definitely coming to a middle

I'm with Cheradnine. I took my fiat in for a timing belt change. They changed the belt, but got the timing wrong (didn't use cam locks) and they never changed the tensioner despite charging me £400. I had to take it to a proper dealer and pay another £400!

I still use them occasionally only because i live nearby in roath park, but only for very simple non-critical jobs.
