Re: Fiat into Alfa

With the engine out can you see how the mounts line up or will you be needing some JTD bits?

What's the plan for where the different bits will come from like struts, driveshafts, brakes etc?

Re: Fiat into Alfa

Looks like the mounts are similar. If this block is the same as the JTD then yes JTD mounts should make it fit nice. Brakes come from the coop.
Driveshafts ? Who knows?! Fiat or Alfa may fit.
Would have done more this w/end but went to play with my train set instead.

Re: Fiat into Alfa

I think I've heard that Alfa are actually going to do this in the 159 in the next couple of years! Can't remember where I read this though.

Re: Fiat into Alfa

Project is on hold at the mo due to:
Other commitments
Some Pr**k vauxhall driver creaming the side of my baby
The fact that I've been offered a 146 for nothing which may be now in line for the transplant!

Re: Fiat into Alfa

It sounds like a really good project. It would be something I would consider if I had a few spare funds. Other than that I might buy myself a westfield and add a Fiat coupe turbo engine, that would be mental, I just need to save some cash and convince the better half.

Can only be done when time allows and I'm in no great rush to make a mess of it. I've seen these things done before in a hurry and turn out really badly. Anyway I've got to finish putting the Merc V8 into a 1948 International 1 ton truck first

I had a guy who wanted the engine for an MGB but I talked him into an Alfa V6. Even that should be fun for a Leyland!

I think that is a little harsh. Of course it has come to nothing if the car has been written off. But he is still trying and that is what is important.

Alfa 156 2.4 JTD

Re: Fiat into Alfa

I belive you will need a subframe from a 2.4JTD to enable it to fit and use all electrics ecu etc from the fiat. I think the electrics will prove to be the most difficult part of the job but maybee not if the fiat has a completly seperate engine loom as some cars do. I will be interested to see how you get on.
I think i have a new job many miles from home so i either need to start driving the missis 1.0 corsa or put a diesel (oh no!) in the alfa but the fiat turbo route seems more apealing and still probably better on fuel than the 2.0 twin **** that in there.

best of luck

Rich
