Thumbs Up 156 Bodykit finished

well almost. the painter got the grill wrong (painted it silver instead of the spotlight surrounds )

but apart from that my efforts have turned out quite well

Window tints or not, painted mirrors would look better IMO

Re: 156 Bodykit finished

Great looking bodykit & a first class paint job. I hate to post anything neg... but I'm gonna make it really small cos I think overall it looks fantastic...

but...

I'm not daft on the rear spoiler (the rest of the kit looks like it was meant to be there, not the spoiler IMO) and I agree with the others about the mirrors (but I hadn't noticed until they were pointed out.

I love the quad exhaust set-up - combined with the wheels, the car looks like it's doing 150mph just standing still.

Overall, top effort

You're not gonna tint the front windows, are you? Personally I think it'll wreck the style, and make it look... like a Chavalier (and you'll get tugged for it too).

Without me searching, can you give a quick run-down of the suppliers of the various bits? Bodykit is prob. the best I've seen on a 156.

Re: 156 Bodykit finished

cheers paddy & gtv

you dont have to worry about speaking your mind, im not the argumentative type that takes offence over opinion.

the spoiler: well i was thinking exactly the same as you paddy, but after looking at alot of zednder kitted 156s, i just took a punt.

i think the final push to fit itwas an effort to balance out the quad pipes below, and imo now i've seen it fitted, its achieved that look for me.

i was lucky enough to get most of the arch kit from ebay, but other parts such as one arch section & front lip were from Helvetia.

the gta skirts are from alfisti.net (not recommended - took 1&1/2 months!)

wheels are from a uk company called wheelbase.

pipes are from Autodelta.

i did the rest, including refurb the lights / spray them black (gta style)

this is the breakdown of everything to date:

starting with a 1.8L 156 SP2;

Exterior

18x7.5" Wheels
8mm Hubcentric Front Wheel Spacers
Custom Zender / GTA Bodykit
Clear Side Indicators
Black (gta) Headlights
Custom LED light/ zender boot spoiler

Interior

Facelift Black Leather
Facelift Steering Wheel
Short Gearstick
AR Deep Shag Mats
Twill Carbon Fibre A & C Pillars
CD / MP3 Headunit
6x9 Rear Shelf Speakers

Performance

Brembo 4 Pot 305 Brake Upgrade
Braided Brake Lines
OMP front (top) StrutBrace
BMC / CDA
Ragazzon 60mm Centre Section (De-Cat)
AutoDelta Quad Stainless Exhaust System

Re: 156 Bodykit finished

Job well done there! I can spot from the different parts used, that it must have been quite a job making them fit eachother.. a real custom job! I'd be interested in all the details if you have the energy to share.

F.ex how did you manage to match the side skirts to the arches? and how did you match the arches to the (i think) Helvetia GTA replica rear bumper?

Re: 156 Bodykit finished

cheers peter, it was a little time consuming, especially when you just have a few hours in the evenings. not to mention the rubbish weather!

blending was done wilth lots of applying & removing filler in the joining areas.

the rear bumper is oem with zender diffuser bolted on & again, lots of time and effort with the filler to remove any trace of seams.

i kept a blow by blow account on here if your up for flicking through 11 pages.

Re: 156 Bodykit finished

whilst some of it is not entirely to my own tastes (but that would be boring then!), it's a very nice package overall.

i love how nicely the flared pieces on the front and rear bumpers have been grafted on, mixing the zender flare with the GTA bumpers.

the silver foglight surrounds/black lower grill now look right! bit of a stuff-up initially.

wheels are nice. could be lowered more. and i think silver colour-coded side mirrors would be the way to go.

enjoy.

Re: 156 Bodykit finished

Very nice job indeed.

Rear spoiler isn't too bad, but a discrete lip spoiler would have perhaps added to the subtleness of the mods. They do look like they came frmo the factory.

Oh, and it does need to be lowered - not by much - maybe 25mm, but it will transform the look even further.

Also, silver mirrors are a must - don't go for carbon fibre - it wouldn't work on the car.

Cheers

Re: 156 Bodykit finished

thanks for the nice comments guys

two months on and im still smiling + getting lots of Q's from co-workers they dont believe its a 98 car lol and even the petrolheads ask if its the GTA

about the only thing thats changed is i've had a whole new ss centre section & sports cat fitted + the AD box reworked so the pipes sit slightly further in.
the slight backpressure of a cat has taken the motorway resonance drone out so its not as boomy inside the cabin. much better

Re: 156 Bodykit finished

Is there a way of making it loud on load but quiet at cruising speeds?

(I mean 80mph cruising, not 5-10mph cruising, just so's you know )

Re: 156 Bodykit finished

its still quite a loud pipe, especially under load, but you can turn the volume down with your foot or an early upchange on the commute.
