Re: 159 3.2 Tuning

Jonnyboy ,yours may arrive before mine,I didn't understand the "big" part of your post.I am wondering about the cat,but it is very expensive so I need to find out how much of the 10hp increase it is responsible for.Week 48 plus delivery time to Australia,I will then install it myself immediately!

The "Big" meant that it is a big question mark if and when the system will be available for sale. If I have it before Christmas, I might start to believe in Santa clause again...

Re: 159 3.2 Tuning

Kanga, some news from Switzerland, I asked to importer here, by email, when they could deliver the system, they reply in german, so not to easy to understand for me, but he said it could be delivered to me in 8-10 days. It also sounded like the system was ordered already So I guess I will just wait and see what will come in the mail the next two weeks..

jonnyboy, great news. The holdup for me was the centre section it won't be ready until week48,the exhausts were week 44,therefore the end of November plus delivery. It looks like you will be the first to get a genuine system made for the 1593.2 Q4!

Re: 159 3.2 Tuning

I will get the exhaust instaled on 14th desember, let see who has it on first...

Thinking of geting the eibach springs instaled on the same time, or is it better to wait, and get som new shocks as well?

Re: 159 3.2 Tuning

Don't sweat guy's. For my GTA I ordered a system in June 2006..........................it arrived in May 2007. Supersprint Italy blamed their South African agents for the delay.

I was ****ed at the time but once it was fitted & I heard the engine note I forgot about the time delays......Good luck & post a sound clip once its all fitted & fired up.

Re: 159 3.2 Tuning

yes, mine are in Sydney.Should be at my place Thursday. However,I went to Sydney and changed the twin catalytic converters for high flow sports ones and it has absolutely changed the car.I did a before and after dyno test,128.4KW at the wheels before and 2 hours later after the installation 136.9KW at the wheels and that is with the rest of the system still standard. That is equivalent to 13KW engine power increase(assuming 35% transmission losses). The torque was not recorded but that is what I noticed, the car now pulls like a train! There must be at least 15% more torque.

Re: 159 3.2 Tuning

Also it has changed the engine note and exhaust note , they sound so much better, more like I gather the 3.2 Arese engine sounds. The engine feels so much looser and revs much easier,it is almost like the brakes were on before. Perhaps it must be that the old cats were so bad because they had to comply with Euro3 emissions.

Re: 159 3.2 Tuning

Kanga,
Well done. My experience when decating the Alfas as well as the M3's I've owned is like running with army type kit(haversack etc) & then running with shorts on & trainers. That's how the car feels. Don't know if that's a way of explaining it but thats how it felt.
Will be interesting to see where you end up once you have done the entire exhaust & then map to suit,

Ciao

Re: 159 3.2 Tuning

Monstro,I imagine decating is even better than sports free flow cats like mine.I can't imagine much more power from the Supersprint system but I am hoping there will be a much better sound.I will test next time I am in Sydney.I don't know who could do a custom tune in Australia as the Autodelta remap is for a standard car without new cats and exhaust and I don't want to make it worse as it is so good now.Your analogy is spot on re the shorts and joggers V the army pack drill.

Re: 159 3.2 Tuning

Kanga,
Drop Jano at AD an email. Apparently the ECU is quite adaptive & after driving for around 100-150km it will self adjust some parameters. From what I have discussed with Jano on this subject their remap would make your car even better. Give it a try.

Re: 159 3.2 Tuning

Monstro,I will do that as the car seemed to improve between the cats being fitted and the 2nd dyno run, only 20 mintes away and seemed to improve more so as I drove home from Sydney.I can tell you if you get a 159SW in Greece you will be amazed at the difference if you put these twin high flow cats on .I think the name of them is cat flow they are from the US.It absolutely makes the car what it should have been in the first place.

Re: 159 3.2 Tuning

Surely your Lambda sensors will be causing problems if you do this.

Are you guys saying that changing to high flow cats will cause problems with the Lamba sensors?

Re: 159 3.2 Tuning

I don't think so, they do the same job as normal cats except they are more efficient. They cost more because of this.

De-catting is a way of cheaply doing what high flow cats do, and this can damage lambda sensors. I've never heard of high quality sports cats damaging lambda sensors.
