Re: mot and remap

Well I have MOT'D plenty mapped JTD'S but they have all been 2.4's and they were clean as a whistle I mean cleaner than normal but never done a 1.9 16v mine is just over 1 year old so no worries yet. Out of curiousity might check them sometime for peace of mind. I will wait and see if anyone else has first though. But to be honest I don't think it will be a problem.

Re: mot and remap

I MOTd my old Red Dot remapped 1.9 Volvo diesel (115bhp to 136bhp) and it was fine.

What are you worried about?

It only took you a year to see it !!

A JTD will only be tested for smoke so unless your GT's smoking lots I wouldn't worry fella !!

If it's lots and constant then you should probably be worried

If it just under hard acceleration then it shouldn't really be a problem

I take it all the hoses are OK

Re: mot and remap

thanks nomad

it smokes a v small amount when pulling off first thing in the morning - and then only when booting it (ie half acceleration not too the floor) on the motorway - can only really see it when there is another car behind you with lights on though
is better since getting turbo pipe replaced, and power seems to be there ok

Re: mot and remap

Yup our remapped Leon smokes that a smokey thing producing lots of smokey smoke at full throttle but sails through the MOT no probs

No such probs with the Brera thanks to the DPF (Not that the likes of Nev will believe that )

Re: mot and remap

Diesel Particulate Filter

Catches all the Soot (so no smoke) and kicks it out as ash during 'regeneration'

The new 2.4 JTDm's have 'em fitted from the factory and I doubt they'd be a possible fit on the 1.9 JTD due to all the electrickery that goes with them !!
