Yes and yes, unfortunately

It is widely believed to be the culprit for the new JTDm's slightly poorer fuel economy.

I put my 2.4 10v through an MOT with the map on, and that smoked like Linda Hamilton in Terminator 2.

Thing is, they do the smoke test in neutral, so the engine isn't under any load. It shouldn't smoke much like this once you've got it nice and hot. So it will probably pass no problems.

all of mine have passed, and some had spilit boost pipes and smoked like a chimney when driven.

well mine just past first mot ....... but only by .04 on the soot test!!
