Re: Remapped and Well Chuffed

I also have a 2.4 JTDm manual and am really interested in this thread. Well, you would, wouldn't you? More, yet using less. Well, naturally I understand that you can't have both at the same time but what I can't get to grips with is how "naughty" it is. What are the insurance implications? Obviously one could accidentally forget to mention it but is it detectable if it all goes wrong and Loss Adjusters get involved? A tentative enquiry on renewal resulted in "We won't insure a chipped car." Or am I making an idiot of myself as remapping and chipping are different things? I throw myself to your tender mercies...

red.dot do remaps, might be worth searching for them on here and getting in touch. A few members here have been to them

Re: Remapped and Well Chuffed

Thanks, Nigel, I look forward to that. Anyone else know the facts on the insurance status of re-mapped or chipped cars?

If the car struggles to get to a ton it sounds like something's wrong rather than it just needing a smidgen more power.. :hmm:

About 10% is possible if you include mapping it for higher octane fuel. Mine chipped up from 220bhp to 245bhp, that's 11% and a noticeable improvement. 10% on a 2.0 TS would be 15bhp - more than the difference between the 1.8 and the 2.0..

Well it was nearly done. The car brokedown with a Diesel Particulate Filter error on the way there. In a loan passat (yuk!) rightnow
