That's Rush's GTV all the way in the mother city (Cape Town), and he's a member of AO... and yes, the motor is a Dawie de Villiers special... brilliant...
Big up Rush....
i wish they could post the 3.8 156.. cos that has much more bhp than the GTV... p.s the GTV is rolling on 19" rims... and it still whips the M3 and we all know how big rims kill ur pull away...
Big UP...
This car does the talking...

Maybe, but it'll have a lot more torque throughout the rev range which has got to count for something, plus the car is lighter than an M3 and possibly suffers less drivetrain losses due to the more simple nature of FWD.

Re: 3.7 GTV vs M3
thats true the torque will count for something but at that sort of engine speed I doubt it will make that much difference and because m3 is the ulta sports model it is a fairly light car anyways I cant see the gtv having more than 280 bhp max

M3 is 15**kg.. GTV V6 is 14**kg, only the M3 CSL is the light car, the M3's engine weighs a tonne, along with the rest of the well padded and equipped 3 series chassis.

Some of these 3.7s are making 420bhp normally aspirated, not sure about this one though.. But this is the sort of league these guys are working in, forged internals, wild cams, individual throttle bodies, aftermarket engine management systems, 8,750rpm redlines..

Re: 3.7 GTV vs M3
So its the old M3? Based on the old straght 6 engine? (not the later V8)
OK, so an alfa may be a tad quicker, but these are different drivers, and not in controlled conditions.
I would like to see it vs. the BMW 335d, and if it beat that, I would like to see it vs. a remapped 335d. (twin seq. turbo)
Great claim beating an M3, but could it beat a diesel?

I would guess it would While the diesel might have the whole shot but it aint going to be able for a 9k revving engine.

The 'old' M3 is still 343bhp, not slow at all!
The 335d is 280bhp, but weighs 1655kg.. 430lbft as standard though..
Remapped it can do 340bhp, I wonder if this GTV would keep up or not? It does have a large weight advantage..
