GGTd Suspension Brakes and Exhaust Upgrade

My Gt is staying so I want to upgrade - any ideas on the following?

I have a nearly new HBE supension pack from my 156 - I know the shocks are fine - need a re-valve on the front - but the springs aren't right apparently - anyone fitted the Eibach Pro's ?

Anti roll bars yes or no ?

Powerflex bushes - everywhere - somewhere or nowhere.

I have a set of GTA brake calipers - do I need to change the hubs or does somebody do a bracket. Want to fit tarox discs front and back.

Tail-pipe - standard fit but one that isn't rusty! - Don't want the hassle of the extra exit - after all it is a diesel that would just look like a wannabe

Could be worth checking with a Alfa parts desk to see if the numbers line up pr a Alfa specialist might also be able to shead some useful light on the matter

The shocks have the same part number as the 156 - The springs don't.

HBE tell me that the shocks could do with valving differently for the heavier diesel engine but have said the springs should be ok -

Anyone upgraded to Brembos ?

Re: GGTd Suspension Brakes and Exhaust Upgrade

I found the stock brakes good enough for track days just with better pads, found myself braking as late/later than people with the fashionable brembo brakes never had any probs despite going as fast as everything else and the car being heavy.

Suspension wise you'll want it a bit stiffer for sure, Eibach Pros with some good dampers should get you most of the way there, if theres still an understeer tendency fit the Q2 ARB to the rear.

GTA brake calipers would be a nightmare to fit - even wheel choice becomes a big issue.

Pads are probably the biggest factor to good braking, the wrong pads will never work well no mater if fitted to single piston or 4 piston calipers.

HBE - is that the Harvey Bailey Bilsteins ?? I have these on my V6 156 and they work pretty well with Sport Pack springs

Re: GTd Suspension Brakes and Exhaust Upgrade

Mine has 17's and the Brembos are the smaller discs. Just don't like the standard brakes - have changed pads and it's there was no noticeable difference - I don't use it for track days so need a pad that works when it's cool. The problem with my brakes is that I feel it lurches under initial hard braking but then doesn't seem to slow down much more. need something that's more balanced.

It is Harvey Bailey - Bilsteins and Eibach springs - they were fitted to a 156 and what I was impressed with was incredible handling but with a really good ride - it felt as good as my GTA but without the inability yo cope with poor road surfaces.

Well there doesn't seem to be many suggestions so I'll go ahead and upgrade and let you know after I've become the expert

The best pads I've used are Ferodo DS2500's - I cant praise them enough. Here they work from 'cold' with good bite, no fade and very consistent performance.

Have just ordered another set from Ebspares for my other V6 - not cheap at £100 but worth it.
