Chip box - 159/1.9JTDm

Hi everyone

I have read a number of threads about remapping but wondered if anyone has hands-on experience of chip boxes for the 1.9JTDm engine?

As it will be allegedly used on an allegedly new car, (allegedly), the idea of whipping it off prior to servicing and maintenance is quite appealing. (Hangs head in shame) I like the idea of an extra 25/30 bhp without detonating the engine.

Anyone actually bought a Pbox or similar?

Mike

Re: Chip box - 159/1.9JTDm

I am looking to get a P-Box for my 156 1.9JTD M-Jet, but, its over 4 years old and done over 81k, so, not quite the same as yours...

But, I would go for the P-box over a remap for warrently, removal before servicing and the ability to use it in your new car after you have sold you old Alfa.

Re: Chip box - 159/1.9JTDm

I've been looking into the pbox for the past year. As prices of fuel seems to be going up It makes for a good idea to get an extra few mpg with overall power and performance.

Hope to get a trial of it sometime over the next few months.

Be careful what you buy. Some are very crude pieces of rubbish.

The AutoLusso P-box won't be, I recommend that.

No mate it certainly won't, but Ukmike wasn't specific on what he was looking at so I thought I'd say not to touch any nasty cheap E bay stuff etc.

Re: Chip box - 159/1.9JTDm

I have considered the Pbox - there is also a unit called the Spider made by some clever blokes based at Hull Science Park which isn't too far from me if anything goes pear-shaped (even if I have to walk there)

They both cost around the same and the advantage to me is that they are "plug and play".

PS. Tony_156JTD - love your car. I had the "old" 156JTS but the later nose improved on the original.

With the sport box you'd be pushing the turbo to or close to the limit, so you'd need to get all the air you can into the turbo for the full boost.

A poor air filter will lead to poor fuel/air mixture and no power improvement...
