GT JTD

Anyone remapped a 159JTD yet ? - big benefit ?

To me the 159 1.9JTD seems a good all round compromise but the performance seems somewhat sluggish compared to the GT JTD due to the lardiness of the 159.

Has anyone remapped one yet ? - if so how much difference does it make to this 'Roland Browning' of an executive saloon ?

I am interested in doing this to my 159 but am concerned (probably why no-one else has posted here with results yet!) of the effect of a remap on manufacturers warranty with the 159 being so recent?

Not 159 but 156, still if this helps, it gave me noticeable boost in acceleration and measureable gain in top speed - some 10km/h more top speed.

Warranty: in case of 156JTDm, I underline only to be exact but should be the same for 159, there is no way, to detect it without measurement on the rolling road. Those stories about checksum verification are not correct, all diagnostic points are the same!!!

you should get the 1.9 jet to around 192bhp, similar to the thurlby astra 1.9cdti with the team 888 remap. (they call it 200bhp, but its not quite)

The 159 is a very heavy car compared to the GT.

The 159 is on the vauxhall premium chasis, the GT is on the old (but modded) 156 chasis.
Hence the weight differences.

Can they not tell easily when the ECU was last reloaded? Surely this will be part of any remap and would easily be detectable?

Re: Anyone remapped a 159JTD yet ? - big benefit ?

I did my remap after 20kkm and 1y so well within the warranty. Then had a distribution system problem and car went to repair to authorized dealer. At that point the car was already 2 MONTHS after the warranty period. Even then the authorized dealer from Brussels took care of it better than I could have imagined. A fiat representative was called on site and presented that that kind of failure was not normal and not acceptable even the warranty was "slightly over" Fiat group then agreed to cover 100% the cost of the repair.

I cannot confirm they have absolutely no way to verify this, I was told that by my remapper: "all diagnostic points are the same" (whatever that means). After the remap I was at the 40kkm maitenance and auth dealer did not say anything.. Then a serious breakdown, repair with 100% refund and again no problem. Hope this helps a bit more...

156SW 1.9JTDm + remap 165bhp

Thinking of... 159SW 2.4JTDm Q4, 18" spoke rims, black + black upholstery + remap 210->250bhp
